🇷🇺 The tourist flow in Russia reached a record high this summer!

🧳 This summer, Russia experienced a real tourism boom, as reported by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko during a meeting with the President of Russia. From May to August, the number of trips amounted to an impressive 35 million, which is an 11% increase compared to last year.

🗓 Did you know that in Russia there is a tradition of visiting baths specifically on Saturdays?

🧖‍♂ The Russian bath is an integral part of Russian culture. It is not just a room for washing the body and warming up in the cold winter, but also a sacred place for cleansing the spirit and healing the soul and body.

⛪️ There has long been a rule to visit the bath on Saturdays. This rule was related to the fact that on Sundays, people typically went to church. It was considered inappropriate to go there dirty and unkempt, as this was seen as disrespectful. Additionally, it was believed that visiting the bath cleansed one of sins, as only those whose souls are pure before God could attend church.

Would you dare to visit a Russian bath?

🇷🇺 Which city is considered the oldest on the territory of modern Russia?
🇷🇺 The oldest city on the territory of Russia is Kerch, located in the eastern part of the Crimean Peninsula.

The age of Kerch is over 2,500 years. It was founded as an ancient Greek settlement between 610 and 590 BC and was originally named Panticapaeum. The ruins of this ancient Greek colony have survived to this day.

Another one of the oldest cities is Derbent in Dagestan, founded in the early 1st century AD. However, some historians claim that the city is much older, with the first settlements in the Derbent area dating back as far as 5,000 years.

Ryazan is also a fairly ancient Russian city, and during the times of Kievan Rus, Ryazan was an independent principality. The official year of its founding is 1095. Interestingly, modern Ryazan is located in a completely different place. This happened because Old Ryazan was completely burned down by the Tatars and Mongols in the 13th century.

Saint Petersburg, the cultural capital of Russia, was founded by Peter the Great in 1703 as the new capital of the Russian Empire. Despite its "young" age, Saint Petersburg has become one of the most beautiful, culturally rich, and populous cities not only in Russia but throughout Europe.

🇷🇺 Top of Russian Classical Music:

✔️ Alexander Porfiryevich Borodin — "Polovtsian Dances," 1890

The secret to the immense popularity of this piece lies in the melody (which is also a song) noscriptd "Fly Away on the Wings of the Wind," which is featured in the "Dances." This melody by the great Russian composer has even been used by American rappers in their songs.

✔️ Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin — "Etude No. 12," 1895

Perhaps the most Russian yet also the most unique composer, known for writing unique and beautiful music based on symbolism.

✔️ Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky — "The Nutcracker," 1892

In addition to Russia, the music of Pyotr Ilyich is cherished and loved worldwide, but it is especially adored in Germany. Above all, of course, "The Nutcracker." Particularly during Catholic Christmas.

✔️ Igor Fyodorovich Stravinsky — "The Rite of Spring," 1913

This Russian ballet by the great Russian composer Igor Fyodorovich Stravinsky, which premiered in Paris in 1913, caused both scandal and a sensation at the time. The audience was both shocked and thrilled at the same time. For this very ballet, Stravinsky is still "carried on the shoulders" in Russia and around the world.
