🇷🇺🚇 Top Most Beautiful Metro Stations in Russia:

1. "Avtovo" (St. Petersburg)

The "Avtovo" station, located on the first line of the St. Petersburg Metro — the Kirov-Selection line, was ceremoniously opened on November 15, 1955. This station is a striking example of architectural style that reflects the historical heritage of the city.

The hall of the station is supported by 46 columns, 30 of which are clad in exquisite marble, while the others are decorated with panels of cast glass. The station's design is dedicated to the theme of the defense of Leningrad, which is reflected in the panels on the facades of the above-ground pavilion, depicting the "Defense of Petrograd in 1919" and the "Defense of Leningrad from 1941 to 1943." The interior space is also adorned with the mosaic "Victory," which depicts a woman with a child sitting on her left shoulder. Above them, a ribbon flutters with the innoscription "Peace to the world."

2. "Kirovsky Zavod" (St. Petersburg)

The "Kirovsky Zavod" station, opened on the same day as "Avtovo," November 15, 1955, is named after the nearby Kirov Factory. This columned three-span deep-level station (44 meters) impresses with its scale and original design.

The main theme of the design is the development of socialist industry. The architects aimed to create an atmosphere of a factory workshop bathed in sunlight. Decorative elements such as stucco, reliefs, friezes, and bas-reliefs emphasize the industrial theme. The 31 pairs of columns arranged in two rows enhance the majestic appearance of the hall, creating a sense of space and light.

3. "Kievskaya" (Moscow)

The "Kievskaya" station, opened on March 14, 1954, on the Circle Line, is a pilon three-vaulted deep-level station (53 meters). It captivates with its elegance and architectural harmony.

The central part of the hall is adorned with a white vault, connecting to the side sections through parabolic arches, which are decorated with a characteristic Ukrainian architectural 17th-century stucco frieze. The 18 pilasters of the station are embellished with mosaic panels that tell the story of Ukraine and the friendship between the two nations — Russian and Ukrainian. The mosaics depict significant historical events, such as the Pereyaslav Rada and the liberation of Kyiv by the Soviet Army in 1943, as well as notable cultural figures like Pushkin and Shevchenko.

4. "Mayakovskaya" (Moscow)

The "Mayakovskaya" station on the Zamoskvoretskaya line, opened on September 11, 1938, is considered one of the most beautiful and iconic metro stations in the world. It was the first columned deep-level station (34 meters) in the world and is named after the poet Vladimir Mayakovsky.

Its architecture features a three-nave columned hall, where the columns and arches are finished with polished stainless steel, and the arch framing is made of marble-like limestone. The main decoration of the station is the mosaic panels made of smalt, placed in the domes, created based on the sketches of the People's Artist of the USSR Alexander Deyneka. The themes of the mosaics, such as "Two Airplanes and a Blooming Apple Tree" and "Parachutist," reflect the spirit of the time and the pursuit of progress. Unfortunately, one of the 35 panels has been lost, but the others continue to impress visitors with their beauty and expressiveness.

🍀 A lucky Muscovite bought three new MacBook Pro 14 for 1,107 rubles, while the market price is around 600,000 rubles, but the order never arrived.

Denis saw an advertisement online and ordered several laptops at 369 rubles each. He paid via a link, but nothing showed up. The marketplace responded that the seller was at fault. So the guy went to court, and the transaction was recognized as legitimate, obliging the seller to deliver three devices to the buyer.

Have you had similar situations?

🤔 Can you tell which of these cities has never been the capital of Russia?
🇷🇺 Many cities have served as the capital of Russia.

Before the rise of the Moscow principality, which occurred after the Tatar-Mongol yoke, the center of Russia was the Vladimir principality with its capital in Vladimir. The princes of Vladimir began to be called "great," and their supremacy was recognized by the princes of all Russian lands. It was the great princes of Vladimir who were nominally recognized in the Horde as the eldest in all of Rus.

From 1564 to 1581, the actual capital of Russia was the city of Alexandrov, specifically Alexandrovskaya Sloboda, which became the "capital of the Oprichnina" due to the location of the residence of Tsar Ivan the Terrible.

From 1941 to 1943, during the Great Patriotic War, the role of the temporary actual "capital" of the USSR was fulfilled by Samara, then called Kuibyshev. The capital was evacuated from Moscow along with the main state bodies, ministries, and diplomatic missions of foreign states.

Ryazan, although it was a separate principality for a long time, has never been the capital of Russia.

😁 Vasya, who couldn't escape — after four days, the jet-propelled ostrich from Komi was finally caught.

The proud descendant of velociraptors, having exhausted all the volunteer searchers, ended up running out of the forest through the wrong door. Local cowboys with lassos were already waiting for him there — the wranglers tied up the restless Vasya and filled the unfortunate bird with tranquilizers, and soon he will be returned to his native ostrich farm.
