🦌 A real reindeer scandal has erupted in Yakutia!

👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨 Wild northern reindeer, seemingly inspired by romantic comedies, have decided that it’s time to take action. During the mating season, they have begun to mass abduct domestic reindeer into the tundra.

According to reports, two herds, numbering between 100 and 150 heads, have already disappeared, and another two are under threat of attack. To ensure the safety of domestic reindeer in the Olenek region of Yakutia, special groups of experienced hunters and reindeer herders have been formed. Some of them even interrupted their vacations to help bring the "brides" back.

🐉 In Primorsky Krai, there are unique rock formations known as the "City of Dragons" or "Dragon Park."

🏞 The ascent to the rocky remains takes about 1.5 hours along a pleasant forest path. As you climb to the top of the hill, your attention is drawn to two giant ridges that resemble dragons.

📖 There are several legends about the origin of this unique place. One of them states that these are real petrified dragons that inhabited the area long before humanity appeared. Another theory refers to aliens. A third theory suggests that the whimsical shapes were formed due to centuries of erosion, in which each person sees something different.

Which theory do you subscribe to?

🇷🇺 A 53-hectare island has disappeared in Russia.

🏝 Mount Mesecev Island, which had an area of 53 hectares, has completely disappeared from the Franz Josef Land archipelago in the Arctic Ocean. This was reported by the Russian Geographical Society.

📆 It is noted that in August 2015, Mount Mesecev Island had an area of about 53 hectares. By August of this year, its size had shrunk to just three hectares. A month later, the island completely vanished.

☀️ Scientists attribute this to global warming, which leads to the melting of glaciers and rising sea levels. This causes coastal erosion, resulting in the disappearance of certain landforms.

🐺 A brown hyena cub was born at the Moscow Zoo.

🇿🇦 This is the rarest species in the hyena family, found in South Africa.

By the way, brown hyena cubs are born blind and open their eyes after a week. For about two months, the cubs stay in the den.

In the International Red Book, they are classified as near threatened. In the wild, there are only about 4,000 to 10,000 adult individuals left.

🎰 Lottery for Newborns

🗣️ Vice-Speaker of the State Duma from the LDPR, Boris Chernyshev, proposed to raffle off apartments, cars, and household appliances among newborns, stating that such an initiative would help stimulate birth rates.

"The idea is to launch a nationwide lottery for newborns in Russia to encourage childbirth. For example, we could raffle off 10 apartments, 100 cars, and 1,000 sets of household appliances every month among newborn citizens of Russia," said Chernyshev.

According to the deputy, participation in such lotteries could be automatic, based on registry office lists, with winners being announced in a ceremonial manner, and their parents receiving prizes.

The Vice-Speaker of the State Duma noted that similar initiatives have already been implemented at the local level, with lotteries for newborns held in the Leningrad region and the city of Khabarovsk, which received a positive response.

🤔 What do you think about this initiative?

🎶 Russian Roots of the Hit

🎧 You are probably familiar with the song noscriptd "Those Were the Days." Its most famous version was recorded by Mary Hopkin in 1968, and it became a number one hit in the UK singles chart and reached number two in the US.

🇷🇺 However, this song was originally a Russian romance written by Boris Fomin (music) and Konstantin Podrevsky (lyrics) in the early 20th century. It is called "Dorogoy Dlinoyu." Russian singers Tamara Tsereteli and Alexander Vertinsky likely made the earliest recordings of this song in 1925 and 1926, respectively.

Notably, the English lyrics of the song, written by American musician Eugene Raskin, have nothing in common with the original Russian version.

🚃🧠 The first unmanned tram in Russia is being tested in Moscow. It is controlled by AI, which monitors the road situation in real-time and learns to predict the maneuvers of objects around it.

🇷🇺 In the second phase of the launch, the tram operates on a special schedule on route No. 10, carrying passengers from Kulakova Street to Shchukinskaya Metro Station and back. Sometimes it runs without passengers to test the technology. Currently, there is a driver at the controls to ensure the tram's operation. The tram is equipped with lidars—laser-based locators that provide the neural network with a 360-degree view. They can recognize objects at a distance of up to 200 meters with an accuracy of two centimeters. The sensors can see and assess the speed of everyone: pedestrians, dogs, and cars.

So far, the new tram has traveled over two thousand kilometers. The plan is for it to become fully unmanned by the end of 2025, making the city even more comfortable. During the testing period, the tram has never violated traffic rules and has transported people without issues.
