Do you know who the first president of the USSR was? (Hint — a trick question).
🚩November 7 is an important day for Russians who respect the history of the Soviet Union. It is a commemorative date marking the anniversary of the October Revolution. In 1917, on the night of November 7-8 (October 25-26 in the Julian calendar), the Bolsheviks staged a rebellion in Petrograd and overthrew the Provisional Government. The result of the uprising was the formation of a new state — the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR). Five years later, in 1922, following the revolution, it became the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), which included modern-day Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia as union republics.

👴 We did not say this is a trick question for nothing. Of course, the first leader of the USSR was the ideologist of communism and the October Revolution, Vladimir Lenin. His official noscript was Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the RSFSR, and later of the USSR.

⚠️ However, the position of President of the USSR appeared much later; it was established only in 1990 by Mikhail Gorbachev. Gorbachev wanted to distance himself from the party elite and further promote his policy of "perestroika," which, as we know, ultimately led to the collapse of the USSR.

"How it echoes, so it responds," - Vladimir Putin on the policies of the USA and their allies.

🇷🇺 Vladimir Putin is participating in a meeting of the International Discussion Club "Valdai":

Instead of recognizing the futility of their aspirations and the objective nature of change, some Western elites seem willing to go to any lengths to prevent the emergence of a new international system that meets the interests of the majority of the world. In the politics of the United States, for example, and their allies in recent years, the principle of "If it doesn't belong to us, let it belong to no one!" and "If you are not with us, you are against us!" has become increasingly apparent.

Well, listen, this formula is very dangerous. Because both in our country and in many countries around the world, there is a saying: "How it echoes, so it responds."

"What are they trying to scare us with you? We are not afraid. We see no threats."

🇷🇺 Vladimir Putin, discussing NATO, stated that even before the acute conflicts, many European leaders were asking this question. According to him, NATO was already regarded as a "secondary organization."

Other statements by the President of the Russian Federation:

NATO provoked a coup in Ukraine and forced Russia to take retaliatory actions in Donbas.

Russia has never been the initiator of the use of force, but the country is ready to take all necessary measures for its defense when needed.

Pressuring Russia is pointless, but it is always ready to negotiate.

The very existence of Russia is a guarantee of the successful development of the world.

The stereotype of the "civilized West" and the "barbarism" of other nations is racist.

The West has carried out a "creeping intervention" to undermine or destroy Russia.

Russia has repeatedly stopped those who sought world domination, and it will continue to do so.

BRICS is an example of constructive cooperation in the new international environment.

The role of peaceful nuclear energy will only increase, but nuclear weapons pose great threats to humanity.

🌾🇷🇺 5 out of the 10 largest importers of Russian wheat are African countries

Detailed statistics for July-October 2024 were published by the Russian Union of Exporters and Grain Producers.

🥇 Traditional first place goes to Egypt, which imported over 4.3 million tons. Shipments to Egypt increased by almost 1.7 times compared to the previous period, while exports to Turkey, which ranked second, decreased by 37% to 1.6 million tons.

🥉 Algeria took third place, increasing its import of Russian wheat by 17% to nearly 1.5 million tons.

🇰🇪 Kenya ranked fifth, increasing its imports of Russian wheat by 46% to 973 thousand tons.

🇳🇬🇲🇦 The most significant growth was shown by Nigeria and Morocco, which dramatically increased their purchases of Russian wheat.

Wheat supplies to these countries grew more than fourfold over the year, reaching 651 thousand tons in Nigeria and 557 thousand tons in Morocco.

An interesting trend: while exports of Russian wheat to Asian countries (Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Bangladesh) are declining, imports from Africa are rising rapidly.

🌾 Bread is the head of everything!

🇷🇺 Russia has fully ensured its grain supply for this season, reported Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut at a government meeting.

“More than 128 million tons have been harvested. Our domestic grain consumption is 87 million tons. Thus, we have fully ensured food security in this area,” said the head of the Ministry of Agriculture.

🏅 This result will rank among the top five in modern Russian history and will allow for significant export potential for both raw materials and processed products.

🇷🇺 Did you know that there are three northern regions in Russia - the Far North, the Russian North, and the Arctic?

The Far North got its name in the 1930s and includes Yakutia, the Murmansk region, Kamchatka, and other areas. Interestingly, in many cities of the Far North, houses are painted in bright colors. This way, the residents lift their spirits.

The Russian North is a historical concept of common culture for places where northern peoples of the European part of Russia live. The inhabitants possess ancient traditions and a shared vocabulary. Locals pronounce the letter "o" in a distinctive way, emphasizing it among other letters. Many of the Russian northerners are descendants of the Pomors (or modern Pomors). The Russian North includes the lands of Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Kostroma, and other regions.

The Arctic refers to areas located north of the Arctic Circle. In this region, specifically in Murmansk, the Russian icebreaker fleet is based, including all Russian nuclear icebreakers. It is in these regions that you can see the northern lights from mid-September to early April.

🌍 Africa in "Sirius"

📌🇷🇺 The ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, which will begin tomorrow in the federal territory of "Sirius," promises to be an important event for strengthening ties between Russia and African countries.

Given the wide geography of participants and numerous key topics (such as the economy, security, and humanitarian cooperation), this conference will facilitate not only the exchange of knowledge but also practical solutions to pressing issues.

Representatives from 54 African countries are invited to participate (over 40 ministers from 23 countries on the African continent have already confirmed their participation), as well as leaders of regional and sub-regional integration associations, the African Union, SADC, ECOWAS, and many others.

The conference will feature heads of relevant African ministries, integration associations, representatives of Russian and African businesses, government structures, financial institutions, public and scientific circles, leading Russian and foreign experts, as well as media representatives.

Events are planned on issues related to the development of economic cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade, agriculture, information and communication technologies and digitalization, food security, and the mining sector. Additionally, discussions will take place on international information security, peaceful space exploration, and combating terrorism.

Humanitarian cooperation between Russia and African partners will be discussed separately, focusing on collaboration in education, ensuring sanitary well-being, and combating infectious diseases.

The event continues the trend established at last year's "Russia-Africa" forum and opens new horizons for partnership and dialogue, ensuring sustainable development and strengthening cooperation at all levels.
