📰 The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, visited the Tolyatti plant "AvtoVAZ" as part of his working trip to the Samara region. The head of state was shown a pre-production prototype of the new "Lada Iskra" car, with serial production planned to start in April 2025.

😀 In Volgograd, there is one of the most recognizable Russian sculptures - "The Motherland Calls!".

📆 The sculpture was built between 1959 and 1967 and is dedicated to the heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad during the Great Patriotic War.

📤 The total height of the monument is 85 meters (at the time of its construction, it was the tallest monument in the world), and the height of the female figure without the sword is 52 meters. At the top of the sculpture, there is an observation platform offering a view of the city and the Volga River.

🚩 The Motherland Calls became the first monument in the USSR completely made of reinforced concrete. In the 1960s, after the war, many cities, including Volgograd, had not yet been rebuilt, but to commemorate the heroes who gave their lives, it was decided to start the construction of the monument.

🇷🇺 "By 2030, Russia must be among the global technological leaders in the field of unmanned aerial systems," said Vladimir Putin at a meeting on the development of the UAV sector.

Other statements from the Russian president:

— By April 30, the cabinet of ministers must work out the regulations for the flights of civilian drones in those regions of the country where it is possible.

— It is necessary to "open the sky" in Russia for civilian drones as soon as possible; this is a fundamental issue.

— By June 1, the cabinet must legally define air corridors for the simplified use of certain types of drones.

— It will be new technologies, not bans, that will ensure the safety of civilian drone flights.

— 48 new UAV production centers will be established in Russia over the next 10 years.

— Russia should hold an international forum on unmanned systems this year with the participation of specialists and businesses from other countries.

🇷🇺🤿 Divers plunged into the waters of Baikal, swimming beneath a thin layer of ice in conditions of an abnormally warm winter.

This year, due to the unusually warm winter, Baikal has not formed a single solid layer of clear ice. In different areas of the lake, the thickness of the ice varies from the lightest shavings to ridges.

🇷🇺✍️ On January 29, we celebrate the 165th anniversary of the birth of Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, a renowned Russian writer and playwright.

🌏 Chekhov's works have been translated into over 100 languages. Despite the fact that the path of the Russian writer to foreign readers was long and arduous, he has now firmly established himself in world literature, earning a reputation as a classic both in his homeland and abroad.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿Chekhov's name first appeared in English literature in 1889; however, translations of his works were published quite rarely.

The situation was changed by R.E. K. Long, who compiled and translated the first collections of Chekhov's short stories, published in 1903 and 1908. After that, interest from the English-speaking audience in Chekhov significantly increased.

❄️ The Primorye leopard came out of hiding to "hunt" for snowflakes.

🐆 Actually, leopards don't like snow. They tend to avoid snowy areas and wait out bad weather in shelters. But here are rare footage – the big cat spent a whole 40 seconds catching snowflakes with its nose!

🇷🇺💬 The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, commenting on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's statements that the USA helped Germany free itself from Nazism during World War II, stated that there is a deliberate line towards forgetting historical truth.

"This is not true; there is a targeted effort to forget historical truth, to forget who exactly paid the heaviest price for the liberation of the European continent from the brown plague - it was the Soviet Union. It was the Soviet Union that, with the help of allies such as Great Britain and the United States, bore the main burdens of liberation," Peskov said.

📌 Furthermore, Peskov noted that such a line is detrimental in terms of possible consequences and the "creeping Nazism" that has significantly taken root in Ukraine and is spreading again across Europe.

Earlier, Scholz stated that "the USA liberated Germany" during World War II.

The first snowwoman was 3.5 meters tall, the following year the sculpture grew to 5 meters, and this year it reached the size of a two-story house – 7 meters.

💰 The Riches of the "Mayakovskaya" Metro Station

💎 Here you can see steel arches connecting the columns, as well as the edges of the columns faced with a rare and very beautiful stone – Ural rhodonite.

The cost of rhodonite is quite high, as it is a semi-precious stone. The residents of the capital learned about this and discreetly began to take pieces from the station. As a result, some columns had to be replaced with reddish marble or even painted cement. However, for the majority of the finishing, it was decided to reopen the Ural deposit to restore the lost elements of beauty.
