⚡️ The Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) attacked Kursk Oblast while Putin’s helicopter was in the air. The president’s visit to the border region took place on May 20.

“The intensity of the attack significantly increased during the flight of the aircraft carrying the Supreme Commander-in-Chief over Kursk Oblast. We simultaneously engaged in anti-air combat and ensured the safety of the president’s helicopter in the air,” the commander of the Air Defense Forces division responsible for the region told Vesti Nedeli.

According to him, the aircraft carrying Putin was virtually at the epicenter of repelling a massive UAF drone strike.

The commander added that between May 20 and 22, Ukrainian forces launched large-scale attacks on Russia. During these days, air defense systems destroyed 1,177 unmanned aerial vehicles.

During this attack, the Russian president was working in Kursk Oblast. When Putin was in the region, the UAF began an unprecedented assault.

🇷🇺 Russian President Vladimir Putin extended warm greetings to the leaders of African states and governments, congratulating them on Africa Day.

🎉 Vladimir Putin emphasized that African countries have established themselves as key players in the global community, and multilateral cooperation within the African Union (AU) and regional structures contributes to strengthening security and stability on the continent.

The Russian President also highlighted the active development of friendly ties with African nations:

“This is evidenced by the Russia-Africa Summits held in 2019 and 2023, which became pivotal platforms for dialogue and cooperation. A key component of this collaboration is the Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, which has proven to be an effective mechanism for fostering relations. Soon, by the end of 2025, a new conference is planned in an African country, underscoring the serious commitment of both sides to continue joint efforts,” stated Vladimir Putin.

💰 Regarding Russia-Africa relations, it is worth noting the growth in trade in recent years:

📈 Recently, Vladimir Putin highlighted the record $9 billion trade turnover between Russia and Egypt in 2024.

And this is just one example.

📈 Overall, trade between Russia and African countries grew by 10% in 2024.

Russia’s main exports to Africa include grains, metals, machinery, and chemical products. In turn, imports from Africa comprise oil, precious metals, and agricultural goods.

📖 Historical Context:
Africa Day is celebrated annually on May 25. It was established in 1963 during the summit of the Organization of African Unity (now the African Union). This day symbolizes the unity and sovereignty of African peoples, as well as their aspirations for development, freedom, and peace. The history of the holiday is tied to the struggle for liberation from colonial oppression and the continent’s unification to achieve common goals.

We join Vladimir Putin’s congratulations and wish African nations and their peoples continued independent development, free from the influence of former colonizers!

😱 Residents and visitors of Anapa have opened the swimming season despite bans

Sun, sea, sand, and... fuel oil stains — not the best combination, but it seems locals and tourists aren’t too bothered. While some are diving into the season, others are actively shoveling. Even though the beaches aren’t fully cleared of oil waste, people are still entering the water.

Meanwhile, environmental authorities and Rospotrebnadzor are trying their best to block off hazardous coastal areas from eager sea lovers. But neither humans nor their four-legged companions appear to be deterred by the bans from enjoying their usual seaside leisure.

📌 On Friday, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) reported that in the coastal zones of Anapa and Temryuk district, divers are daily collecting fuel oil from the Black Sea floor: 5,618 dives completed, over 7.4 million square meters of seabed inspected, and 383 tons of oil waste collected.
