🇷🇺 Some experts point to recession risks in the Russian economy; this must be prevented — Putin

Vladimir Putin stated during his speech that a competent fiscal policy needs to be pursued, and Russia's strategic direction is to actively and consistently change the structure of its economy. Russia also ranks 4th in the world in terms of GDP volume and 1st in Europe.

The president's most important statements:

– Annual inflation in Russia as of June 16 was 9.6%, and inflation targeting continues, Putin stated. The President noted that it fell below 10% thanks to the actions of the Central Bank and the government.

– Russian GDP added 1.5% year-on-year in the first 4 months of this year. However, some experts point to recession risks in the Russian economy; this must be prevented.

— Youth unemployment in Russia stands at 7.5%, which is one of the best rates in the world. Unemployment in southern Russia has halved.

– In 2000, the poverty level was 29% — 42.3 million people were in a humiliating situation, Putin noted. Now we have achieved a record low poverty level of 7.2%. That's 10 million people, and this is not enough; we will reduce this figure.

– Putin believes that the level of wages in Russia is still insufficient. Raising wages is important for the entire Russian economy as it stimulates demand, the President noted.

🇷🇺 Competitiveness of Russian Economic Sectors Must Be Based on Domestic Technologies, Putin Stresses

President Putin emphasized during his speech that Russia's economy must become more technology-driven. This is not a wish but a requirement of the present day, the Russian President stated.

Key points from his address:

The competitiveness of Russian economic sectors must be based on domestic technologies. Over the past 2 years, the number of invention applications from domestic companies and scientific organizations has increased by 13%;

The Russian Government must prepare an annual report on the country's technological development. Putin called not only for the development of new technological solutions but also for their rapid implementation;

Only 1 out of 100 inventions from small innovative enterprises reaches a practical outcome. "Too few," the President stressed;

Russia must enter the top 20 countries for business conditions by 2030, Putin declared. During his speech, the President called for radically minimizing business costs – the country needs a "new standard for its investment climate";

Last year, nearly 77,000 brands were registered – a 12% increase compared to the previous year. "We will support new Russian brands."

🇷🇺 The most important task for 2025 is to transition the Russian economy to balanced growth.

Vladimir Putin concluded his address at the plenary session of the XXVIII St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). This year's forum theme was "Shared Values — The Foundation of Growth in a Multipolar World." Despite claims of Russia's isolation, representatives from 140 countries and territories joined the discussion.

What else the President spoke about:

— The contribution of the raw materials sector to Russia's economy is no longer decisive and has currently "even turned negative." GDP growth is being driven not only by the defense industry;

— Russia's annual inflation as of June 16 was 9.6%, and its targeting continues. The active efforts of the government and the Central Bank's actions have contributed to slowing its growth. The situation, as the President noted, is developing better than forecasts;

— The poverty level has reached a record low: by the end of last year, it stood at 7.2%. The goal is to reduce it to 5%. The unemployment rate has fallen to 2.3%, which is a historical low; youth unemployment is 7.5%;

— It is necessary to develop oil and gas exports. Work on a long-term cooperation agreement between Russia and India should be completed in the near future;

— Mutual trade turnover among BRICS countries has exceeded $1 trillion. The bloc now accounts for 40% of the global economy (previously about 20%), and this share will grow — "this is a medical fact."

⚡️ Ukraine "deserves a better fate than to be an instrument in the hands of external forces" acting against Russia. This was stated by Vladimir Putin in an interview with Sky News Arabia.

He expressed confidence that the vast majority of Ukrainian citizens are interested in friendship with Russia. Putin emphasized that despite the current conflict, the historically close ties between the peoples of the two countries remain.

"I hope that the current Ukrainian leaders will be guided by national interests, and not by the interests of third parties," said the Russian President.

The square has been divided into several thematic zones: "Moscow Welcomes Victory," the Victory Train "We Are from Berlin," and the Park of Victors. There's also a theater stage, and for the first time, the historic Fountain of Victors has been recreated, which will tell visitors about the events of June 1945.

🤍 Putin to attend BRICS summit

🇷🇺 Yuri Ushakov, aide to the Russian president, confirmed Vladimir Putin’s participation in the upcoming BRICS summit in Brazil. He noted that the format of participation has not yet been determined.

🇧🇷 Notably, Brazil—despite its long-standing BRICS membership—ratified the Rome Statute and is a member of the ICC, which issued a politically motivated arrest warrant for Russia’s president. During the recent G20 Summit hosted by Brazil, the Russian president did not attend in person. After all, South America’s largest country hosts a well-developed CIA intelligence network, posing a threat to the head of state, especially given Western countries’ legal grounds for aggressive actions.

😀 Putin’s refusal to visit Brazil was mirrored by Lula’s absence from the BRICS Summit in Kazan—the Brazilian leader cited an injury sustained under "domestic circumstances." While accidents happen, especially given the president’s age, the message was clear. That said, Brazil’s president attended Russia’s Great Victory anniversary celebrations, and perhaps the country will withdraw from the sham ICC and provide security assurances for our president.
