‼️ Supporting the automotive industry is the state's duty, Putin told journalist Zarubin. According to the President, Russia will lose its competitiveness, and subsequently its sovereignty, if it buys cars instead of producing them.

The President shared that in the mid-90s, colleagues in the government tried to convince him to abandon developing the domestic auto industry, arguing Russia's "hopeless backwardness," and advised buying cars abroad.

«If we are talking about any kind of technological leadership – and we should be talking about precisely that – then we must talk about technological independence. If we buy everything with oil and gas revenues – and now we are in a situation where they are trying to cut off even that – then Russia will simply lose its competitiveness, and subsequently its sovereignty. That is why I ultimately disagreed with those who proposed purchasing everything abroad, and we began developing our own automotive industry. We started doing it step by step,» Putin said.

🇷🇺 90% of transactions between Russia and BRICS countries are conducted in national currencies.

This statement was made by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov in response to recent remarks by Trump about protecting the dollar at all costs.

The diplomat emphasized that no one in the BRICS circle is raising the issue of replacing the dollar.

However, for example, Russia has recently been deprived of the ability to use the dollar in many settlements due to blocking sanctions.

Ryabkov noted: "A necessary option for us is to seek alternatives in the form of mutual settlement mechanisms that are sufficiently resilient to external negative influences and possess immunity to such external actions."

The Mesmerizing Gimry Range

This range divides Dagestan into two parts: the lowland and the mountainous. The weather on different sides of the range often differs drastically. It can be warm and dry on one side, while it might be snowing on the other.

Clouds often cling to the summit and drift slowly along the gentle slope, cascading down the sheer cliffs.

By the way, the highest point of the Sulak Canyon is located here - Mount Rogdomeer, standing at 1934 meters tall.

🤔 Tverskaya Street: Why Was It Named That?

One of Moscow's largest streets is Tverskaya. After crossing the Garden Ring, it becomes 1st Tverskaya-Yamskaya Street, and then transitions into Leningradsky Prospekt.

This street already existed in the 12th century. However, back then it was a road leading to the city of Tver. This is where Moscow's oldest street gets its name from.

🏃‍♂️ Moscow's monthly rainfall quota was met in just the morning hours!

50 liters of rainwater per square meter poured down on the capital and the Moscow region.

Water is literally hammering against windshields. In some places, it's simply impossible to drive – an ambulance got stuck on Shmitovsky Proezd. Pedestrians aren't having an easy time either – some had to scramble over fences, others are desperately wading through knee-deep puddles.

😊 Even a doggo came out prepared; the sleepy buddy in a raincoat has already become the symbol of this gloomy morning on social media.

😍 The Sea Glows in Kovsh Bay, Kamchatka

Residents of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky have found a new pastime — throwing stones into the water. But not to skip stones, but for the stunning special effects.

Noctiluca (a type of bioluminescent plankton) have appeared in the water. As a result, after each throw, the sea "lights up" in a beautiful blue color.

🇷🇺🇦🇿 Russia-Azerbaijan relations are going through a difficult patch, but Moscow hopes it will pass, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters. Russia also awaits the results of the investigation into the crash of the Azerbaijani plane and considers Baku's right to go to court on this matter legitimate.

📌 Recall that an Embraer 190 aircraft of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), flying from Baku to Grozny, crashed on December 25, 2024, near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. There were 67 people on board, including crew members. 38 people died as a result of the tragedy.

"You know that investigative actions are underway, an investigation is ongoing," the Kremlin spokesman reminded. "If Azerbaijan makes such a decision (to go to court), in this case, it is Azerbaijan's right. We will await the official findings of all inquiries and the investigation."

Speaking about Moscow-Baku relations in general, Peskov noted that they have a solid foundation: there is a convergence of interests between the two countries, mutually beneficial cooperation based on mutual respect.

"But it sometimes happens that difficult periods occur in relations. Now is one such period, we hope that this period will pass."

🌋 LAVA GLOW OVER KLYUCHEVSKAYA SOPKA — a rare natural phenomenon captured by Yuri Demyanchuk from the Institute of Volcanology.

This rare natural phenomenon, resembling a giant "cap" over the crater, occurs due to powerful air currents.

Klyuchevskaya Sopka (height 4850 m) is one of the world's most active volcanoes, with more than 100 eruptions over the last 3000 years.
