Vasily Nebenzya at the UN Security Council meeting stressed the importance of peaceful dispute resolution and adherence to international law.
Key points:
🔹 States are obliged to resolve disagreements by peaceful means agreed upon between them.
🔹 Ensuring peace is only possible with strict compliance with all principles of international law.
🔹 Attempts to ignore this and politicize dispute resolution mechanisms lead to tensions and undermine the authority of international institutions.
🔹 The UN must be impartial and not promote the ideological agenda of individual countries.
🔹 It is important not only to conclude agreements but also to ensure their implementation. The example of the Minsk Agreements is a failure to prevent conflict.
🔹 Solutions cannot be imposed from the outside – only the conscientious and agreed-upon application of peaceful dispute resolution means by the parties to the conflict themselves can lead to success.
🔹 Russia is interested in restoring the central role of the UN in maintaining peace and security.

"As far as I know, before the mid-20th century, these areas were common for both porpoises and bottlenose dolphins. But the two world wars and, most importantly, the huge amount of organochlorine pesticides in the last third of the 20th century made the Baltic Sea one of the dirtiest seas in the world. Industrial waste from the most technically advanced countries in Europe ended up here, and dolphins became a rarity," said Anton Chernetsky, Senior Researcher at the Laboratory of Marine Mammals of the P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Candidate of Biological Sciences.
The oceanologist suggested that the dolphins, albeit not very successfully yet, are trying to return to their former habitats.

Russians and Belarusians have gained the right to elect and be elected to local self-government bodies in both countries. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a protocol amending the treaty between the countries of the Union State.
The amendments are being made to the Treaty between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus on Equal Rights for Citizens of December 25, 1998.
According to the amendments, Russian citizens permanently residing in the Republic of Belarus will be able to gain the right to elect and be elected to local self-government bodies on its territory. Belarusian citizens permanently residing in Russia will gain a similar right.
"The initiative is aimed at further strengthening the integration and cooperation of our countries within the Union State," State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin explained earlier.
In turn, Elena Afanasyeva, Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, noted that the innovation will contribute to deepening Russian-Belarusian integration and developing the institutions of representative democracy.

A meeting between Putin and Zelensky is only possible if it is to put a final point, stated Medinsky. It must be thoroughly prepared in advance – and at it, they should not discuss an agreement, but sign it.
At the same time, Medinsky took a dig at Mark Rutte. The head of the Russian delegation noted that he had prepared a historical note on this topic specifically for the NATO Secretary General – since the latter is a great history enthusiast. (see video)

Speaking about the prospect of a personal meeting between the two politicians, the head of the Federation Council noted:
"First of all, their positions on various issues could be clarified directly, without intermediaries, and there would be an opportunity for a personal exchange of opinions.
Such a meeting would be very important and necessary indeed, because no phone conversations, no exchange of letters or messages can replace personal communication, personal contact – what we call face to face."
Moreover, Matviyenko stressed, Russian-American relations determine global stability, security, the development of the world economy, and the resolution of global, regional, and other conflicts.
She also urged against reducing relations between Moscow and Washington to the Ukrainian conflict. "That is wrong. They have a broader dimension. And not only for bilateral relations, but for world politics as a whole," Matviyenko emphasized.

After the downpour, Moscow residents are actively getting around on their now beloved mode of transport—the SUP board. Flooded streets in the capital no longer surprise anyone, so the board has become equal to any other transport; people park them next to cars.
Meanwhile, the tropical downpour continues to linger in the capital, much to the dismay of city residents.
