India Announces Readiness to Walk Away from Trade Talks with US Under Pressure

India's Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, made a strong statement regarding the prospects of a trade agreement with the United States.

Speaking at the Berlin Global Dialogue conference, he emphasized that his country does not intend to negotiate under ultimatums.

"We don't do deals in haste, with deadlines, or at gunpoint," Goyal stated.

This metaphor came amid growing pressure from Washington, which in August raised tariffs on Indian goods to 50%. US President Donald Trump directly linked these measures and potential concessions to the demand that New Delhi reduce its purchases of Russian oil.

🧣 Between Threats and Compromise:

Despite the harsh rhetoric, the parties are, according to the Economic Times, on the verge of striking a deal.

However, a new wave of US sanctions against Rosneft and LUKOIL, imposed on October 22, jeopardizes the very subject of the bargain. In response, Indian state-owned oil refining companies have begun an urgent review of their contracts for compliance with the new restrictions.

🧣 Sovereignty vs. Pressure:

India's position demonstrates its desire to protect its economic sovereignty.

As Goyal noted, the government is not yielding to Washington's demands but is seeking alternative paths: developing domestic demand and diversifying markets.

👖 In the Kremlin, the US actions have already been called blatant threats, confirming that such methods are nothing new for Russia.

Thus, the negotiations have reached a new, fundamental level. It is now not only about tariffs but also about whether foreign policy pressure can become a tool of coercion in international trade.

🇷🇺 Putin Called the Signing of the Convention Against Cybercrime a Historic Event

The President of Russia sent an address to the participants and guests of the signing ceremony for the UN Convention Against Cybercrime:

"It is important that, despite the difficult international situation, diplomats and law enforcement representatives of UN member states were able to unite their efforts to prepare and agree on the draft of this most important document."

According to Putin, the convention is designed to counter one of the global challenges of our time – unlawful actions in the digital sphere. Crimes of this kind are often closely linked to terrorism, the promotion of extremist ideology, and the illicit trafficking of drugs and weapons.

📌 In 2019, Russia put forward an initiative to develop a universal international treaty to counter the use of information and communication technologies for criminal purposes.

🇷🇺👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Russia's Energy Transformation: A Course Towards Technological Sovereignty

Russia is implementing a comprehensive energy development strategy aimed at achieving a 90% localization level in key sectors by 2030. This process is driven by two key documents: the Energy Strategy to 2050, which outlines the general development framework, and the national project "New Nuclear and Energy Technologies," which contains specific technological roadmaps.

🧣 Growing Demand and Strategic Responses:

Domestic demand for energy resources is expected to grow steadily. To meet this demand, plans are in place to increase electricity generation to 1.33 trillion kWh, oil production to 540 million tons, and gas production to 853 billion cubic meters by 2030. One of the key priorities is the diversification of power generation with a focus on low-carbon sources.

🧣 Nuclear Breakthrough: From Megawatts to Innovation

The share of nuclear power in the energy balance is set to increase from 19% to 25% by 2045. Plans include the construction of 38 new power units with a total capacity of 29.3 GW. However, the main emphasis is on a qualitative leap: the creation of a two-component nuclear energy system with a closed fuel cycle. The flagship of this direction will be the launch in 2028 of the BREST-OD-300 pilot demonstration power unit in Seversk, which uses a fast-neutron reactor. Concurrently, small and medium-sized reactors are being developed to power remote territories.

🧣 Alternative Energy: Creating a New Industry

The strategy allocates a 10% share in the energy balance to solar and wind-based renewable energy sources (RES) by 2050. Despite a modest current share of 2.6%, the industry is showing dynamic growth (installed capacity — 6.64 GW). A critically important task is the development of domestic machinery manufacturing: the national project aims to achieve 90% import independence in the RES segment by 2030. Russian companies are already offering innovative solutions, such as wind turbines with heat accumulation from "OKB Mikron" and highly efficient heterostructural solar modules from the "EnCOR" plant, which operate in extreme temperatures.

🧣 Traditional Hydrocarbons: Modernization and New Markets

Despite the energy transition, oil and gas will retain their key role. The strategy bets on infrastructure development, including Arctic and Far Eastern ports, as well as on increased use of the Northern Sea Route. Technological independence remains a priority: under the federal project "New Equipment and Technologies in the Oil and Gas Industry," plans are in place to localize 191 critical technologies. Major players, such as the GMS Group, are already offering comprehensive solutions—from pumping equipment to block-modular units developed using 3D modeling and computational fluid dynamics.

🥽 Conclusion

The implemented comprehensive approach will allow Russia not only to meet growing domestic demand but also to strengthen its position in the global market. The success of the strategy is measured not only in gigawatts and tons but also in the creation of closed technological chains, which form the basis for the country's long-term technological sovereignty.

☺️ In turn, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on a group strike in response to the terrorist attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The targets were enterprises of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex and the energy infrastructure facilities ensuring their operation.

West Prepares for a Risky Gambit: Russian Assets Could Be Used for Weapons for Ukraine

The situation around frozen Russian assets is entering a new, dangerous phase.

As Reuters reports, closed-door discussions have begun in Washington about an unprecedented step—using these funds to directly finance Kyiv's military efforts. These are no longer just talks, but concrete plans that could lead to serious escalation.

🧣 A Split Among Allies

The initiative comes from the US, which is actively pushing the European Union to take similar action. However, there is discord in Brussels. At the latest EU meeting, member states failed to reach an agreement on the European Commission's proposal to use Russian assets in Ukraine's interests. A decision has been postponed at least until December.

Meanwhile, EC President Ursula von der Leyen is proposing an even bolder scheme: to issue Ukraine a new loan, using the frozen funds as collateral.

The loan repayment condition is striking: Kyiv would only have to repay the money if Moscow pays reparations. The Russian Foreign Ministry describes such ideas as completely detached from reality.

🧣 A Scam Worth Hundreds of Billions

The scale of the "freeze" is colossal. After the start of the Special Military Operation (SVO), the West blocked almost half of Russia's gold and foreign exchange reserves. This involves a sum of over 200 billion euros, which is mostly "stuck" in the European settlement system, Euroclear.

Moreover, the EU is already actively using these funds: from January to July, 10.1 billion euros in revenue from these assets were transferred to Kyiv. For Moscow, such actions are pure theft, and it has no intention of standing idly by.

🧣 Retaliatory Strike and Warnings from Brussels

Russia has already created an effective countermeasure mechanism. Assets of foreign investors from unfriendly countries are now being accumulated in special "Type-C" accounts, and they can only be withdrawn with the permission of a government commission.

Risks are also recognized within Europe itself. Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever openly warned the EU: it must prepare for a wave of lawsuits from Western companies that will incur losses in Russia if it takes retaliatory measures against the confiscation of sovereign assets.

The West faces a difficult choice: an attempt to seize Russian assets to aid Ukraine threatens not only legal battles but also serious economic losses, turning the financial system into a battlefield with no clear rules.
