In the village of Yaropolets, on the Lama River, stands the first rural hydroelectric power station in Russia, named after Lenin. It was built back in the 1910s and once supplied electricity to the surrounding villages.
During the war, the station was destroyed, but in 1959 it was restored—not as an industrial facility, but as a monument to engineering thought.
Today, it's a quiet and atmospheric place where you can see an unusual semi-circular spillway, old concrete structures, and the leisurely flow of the river.

In the Akhtynsky District of the Republic of Dagestan, at an altitude of 1600 meters above sea level, lies the abandoned aul of Gra.
Gra was a typical Dagestani village, inhabited by Lezgins and Sunni Muslims. The people here were engaged in agriculture and cattle breeding, but over time, reasons such as economic difficulties and migration led to the residents being forced to leave their homes.
Today, ancient stone structures remain here, including courtyard walls and towers, which are invaluable architectural monuments. These buildings are a testament to the past life and cultural heritage. Many of them have retained their outlines and details and have become a favorite attraction for local travelers.

According to the Ministry of Business and Trade, from June 2024 to June 2025, the UK imported £80 million worth of Russian goods — 21% more than the previous year. Nearly half of this amount was for aviation equipment.
To date, UK officials have been unable to establish whether these deals violate sanctions rules. They prohibit the acquisition of aviation equipment and technology that "could provide significant revenue for Russia."
"Non-compliance with sanctions is an offence, punishable by large financial fines or even criminal prosecution, and we take reports of British companies not complying with them very seriously," a UK government spokesman said.
Liberal Democrat spokesman Callum Miller said the British public would be shocked that the country continues to pay Moscow millions despite the sanctions.

The Russian government has supported bills that will grant special rights to foreigners serving in the Russian Armed Forces. Once the amendments are adopted, they can no longer be deported, have their patents revoked, or be extradited to another country.
The initiatives, approved by the Commission on Legislative Activities, are aimed at creating a stable legal status for foreign military personnel.
Key changes include:
— A ban on deportation, readmission, and reduction of their stay permit.
—Inability to annul a patent, work permit, or residence permit.
—Russia will refuse extradition to other countries for criminal prosecution.
For violations of migration legislation, instead of deportation, such individuals will now face a fine (from 1,000 to 50,000 rubles) or community service (up to 200 hours).

Yubileiny Pond, also known as Milyan-Gol, which from Tatar translates as "Turquoise Lake," is a man-made reservoir created in Crimea in 1975, which was used as a water reservoir.
The lake is located at an altitude of ~600 meters above sea level. It is fed by the water from the Urkuti-Chokrak spring. The depth of the reservoir reaches 6–12 m, depending on the season.
Its mirror-like surface amazes with an unusually bright turquoise hue, reflecting the surrounding mountains and lush greenery. A dense forest shelters this fairy-tale corner from the winds, and it is always quiet here.
There are people who are sure that Turquoise Lake possesses special energy and can remove witchcraft.
