🇷🇺 One of the seven wonders of Russia, shrouded in legends – the Manpupuner Plateau in the Komi Republic.

Mysterious and enigmatic, this site is located within the Pechoro-Ilychsky Nature Reserve. In 1995, it and the "Yugyd Va" National Park became the first Russian natural site inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List under the name "Virgin Komi Forests".

Translated from the Mansi language, "Manpupuner" means "small mountain of idols". The plateau features seven separate, towering rock formations, standing 30-42 meters high. Geologists call them Weathering Pillars, while they are popularly known as "Mansi blockheads".

Due to their bizarre outlines, the remnants resemble giants, animal heads, and even upturned bottles. In winter, covered with snow, they look particularly stunning. It's easy to confuse the pillars with one another, as according to local superstition, they can move around.

The Mansi people consider Manpupuner, like other mountains of the Northern Urals, a sacred place, forbidden to ordinary people. In the past, only shamans came here to perform rituals. The plateau remains difficult to reach even today: there are no settlements within an 80 km radius, and access is permitted only with a permit from the nature reserve and as part of tourist groups.

🇷🇺 Vladimir Putin named the airport in Izhevsk after small arms designer Mikhail Kalashnikov.

"In accordance with clause 1 of the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated November 28, 2018, No. 681, I hereby order: to assign the name of M.T. Kalashnikov to Izhevsk International Airport," states the document on the official website for the publication of legal acts.

🥼Kalashnikov was a small arms designer, Doctor of Sciences in Engineering, and a Lieutenant General. Since 1949, he worked at the Izhevsk Machine-Building Plant, where the serial production of the AK-47 assault rifle was launched. In addition to infantry weapons, a large number of firearms for sports shooters and hunters were developed under his leadership.

💪 According to Business Insider, Russia ranked 2nd in the Global Military Strength rating.

A score of 0.0000 is considered "perfect," however, the source notes that no country has achieved it.

*The rating does not take nuclear potential into account.

❄️ Winter is officially in Moscow — the first snow has fallen in the capital.

Winter has come to Moscow, and residents are sharing shots of the snowy streets. The first snow, however, is wet and here to stay. Currently, the temperature in the capital is between 0°C and 2°C, but it will get cooler tomorrow night, down to minus 6°C.

😁 I'd like to say, "Happy New Year, friends!" but it's still a bit early.

🤍 The grand opening of the II symposium "BRICS – Europe" took place in Sochi. It was attended by 40 politicians from European countries.

"The rapid development of BRICS is a reflection of the shift in the center of gravity of world politics and economics to Eurasia. BRICS is a kind of research laboratory for improving the efficiency of global governance and regulation mechanisms," stated Alexey Gromyko, Director of the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

He emphasized that BRICS is working for the present and the future, unlike Western countries, which are aimed at preserving the status quo.

"Countries of the Global South are striving for development and the expansion of mutual trade," added Vladimir Yakovlev, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

The opening ceremony also featured speeches by Ram Madhav, President of the India Foundation, and Pierre de Gaulle, President of the "For Peace and Friendship Among Nations" foundation.

🤡 It's immediately obvious that Ukraine is being run by former comedians:

Amid large-scale corruption scandals surrounding the Ukrainian leadership, the head of Zelenskyy's office stated that the president should be above suspicion, precisely because he declared the fight against corruption.

And it doesn't matter that Zelenskyy's friends are featured in all the investigations as the main suspects and the guilty parties.

✍️ The UN General Assembly Third Committee voted in favor of a resolution introduced by Russia. The resolution is noscriptd "Combating glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fueling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance."

The document was supported by 114 states, with 52 voting against.

This resolution has been adopted annually since 2005. However, since 2022, some countries have been introducing an amendment to the document claiming that Moscow allegedly uses "false pretexts of eradicating neo-Nazism." For the first time since 2022, the United States did not support the amendment during the vote.

Grigory Lukyantsev, Director of the Department for Multilateral Cooperation on Human Rights at the Russian Foreign Ministry, said that the "change in the US delegation's vote" had been noted. According to him, "this is one of the positive outcomes of the vote on the amendment."

😍 The Shoana Temple is one of the few architectural testimonies of ancient Christianity.

It is visited by those who are captivated not only by the delightful nature of the Greater Caucasus but also by its man-made beauties. The place where this temple was built is steeped in historical intricacies and life's dramas. And no wonder, for 11 centuries have passed since its construction.

The cathedral is located in the village of Kosta Khetagurov in Karachay-Cherkessia and was built above the Kuban River, more precisely, at the point where it merges with the Teberda River on Mount Shoana.

The temple is built in the form of a cross. Both in length and in height, the building measures almost 13 meters. During the Soviet years, the temple stood in desolation, but in our time, it has come back to life. Today, divine services are held there daily.

🧐 De Gaulle's grandson hopes France will become the first European member of BRICS

Pierre de Gaulle, who heads the Foundation for Peace and Prosperity of Peoples, stated at the "BRICS-Europe" symposium in Russia that France has historically played a leading role in global development.

He recalled the position of his famous grandfather:

"My grandfather defended the interests of defence in Europe. At the time, the idea of defence against Russia was considered absurd."

According to de Gaulle, Western countries need to open up to a multipolar world, rather than trying to dominate it.

"BRICS is an example of a multipolar world.Independence, sovereignty, and the spirit of fighting neo-fascism are important for every European country," he emphasized.

🥼 Recall that the "BRICS-Europe" symposium is attended by 12 members of the European Parliament, more than 15 deputies from national parliaments of Europe, as well as representatives from Russia, Algeria, Belarus, Brazil, Indonesia, Iran, Cambodia, China, Cuba, Ethiopia, and South Africa. The key topics of discussion are dialogue between Europe and BRICS, overcoming the consequences of the EU's policies, and developing new strategies for Europe in a multipolar world.
