Russia has announced an approaching turning point in settling the Ukrainian conflict.

According to Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, the parties are on the brink of resolving the crisis, although the negotiation process remains complex and contradictory.

Ryabkov acknowledged that in 2022 reaching an agreement seemed possible, but the current situation has become significantly more complicated.

Differences in the parties' approaches remain substantial; however, Moscow is ready to redouble its diplomatic efforts to overcome them.

Russian diplomacy has formulated clear conditions for any settlement.

Moscow categorically rejects the deployment of NATO troops on Ukrainian territory and does not recognize alternative options like the so-called "coalition of the willing."

According to Ryabkov's assessment, such alternative structures could be even more dangerous than official NATO, as they are not bound by the alliance's standard procedures.

At the same time, Russia is ready to consider without prejudice proposals reached in negotiations between the US and Ukraine, awaiting information from Washington on the outcomes of recent meetings.

US attempts to act as a mediator intensified in early December when President Putin met with US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner.

During the five-hour talks, the American side presented a detailed plan, divided into four packages for step-by-step discussion.

However, no agreed-upon version could be found.
Over the weekend and at the beginning of the week,talks between US and Ukrainian delegations took place in Berlin.

According to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, at these meetings, Western countries offered Kyiv security guarantees similar to NATO's Article 5 in exchange for territorial concessions.

Despite optimistic statements about the proximity of a resolution, it remains unclear whether the parties will manage to overcome their fundamental differences.
