Lake Sukko appeared 20 kilometers from Anapa when a dam was built in 1935, blocking the river of the same name. This name is translated from Adyghe as "wild boar watering hole."

A total of 32 trees grow in the water, but exactly how they appeared here is unknown: the homeland of these trees is North America.
