❗️Trump Allowed Strengthening Sanctions Against Russia

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham* stated that U.S. President Donald Trump has given the green light to a bill on strengthening sanctions against Russia.

"After today's very productive meeting with President Donald Trump on a range of issues, he gave the green light to the bipartisan sanctions bill against Russia, which I have been working on for many months together with Senator Richard Blumenthal and many others," Graham* wrote on the social network X.

🇷🇺 In Russia, it has been repeatedly stated that the country will cope with the sanctions pressure that the West began exerting on Russia several years ago and continues to intensify. In Moscow, it has been noted that the West lacks the courage to admit the failure of sanctions against the Russian Federation. In Western countries themselves, opinions have repeatedly been voiced that anti-Russian sanctions are ineffective.

👖 The document on the deployment of multinational troops on Ukrainian territory, signed on January 6, aims to continue the militarization of the Kyiv regime, said Maria Zakharova.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the deployment of military units, facilities, warehouses, and other infrastructure of Western countries on Ukrainian territory will be qualified as foreign intervention, posing a direct threat not only to Russia's security.

"The new militarist declarations of the so-called 'coalition of the willing' and the Kyiv regime are turning them into a veritable 'axis of war.' The plans of its participants are becoming increasingly dangerous and destructive for the future of the European continent and its inhabitants, whom Western politicians are also forcing to pay for such aspirations from their own funds," the statement said.

🏔️ Putorana Plateau

One of the most beautiful and unique places in Russia, located in the heart of Siberia and covering a vast area of about 250,000 km². The terrain here is mountainous, but there are no pronounced peaks.

The word "Putorana" from the Evenki language can be translated as "the land of lakes with steep shores." Indeed, there are many bodies of water here — besides mountains, there are also winding rivers and high waterfalls.

Usually, people come here as part of tour groups with guides, with most routes starting in Norilsk. Here, you can see mountains, lakes, waterfalls, blooming wild rosemary, and even taste local currants if you're lucky.

📰 The FSB Confirmed the Return to Homeland of Russian Basketball Player Daniil Kasatkin from France.

"On January 8, 2026, Russian citizen, basketball player Daniil Kasatkin, detained in France, whose extradition to the USA was demanded by American authorities, was returned to his Homeland," says the statement from Russia's FSB.

It is specified that the athlete was returned to Russia in exchange for Laurent Vinatier*, convicted in Russia. According to the agency, Vinatier was sentenced in 2024 to three years of deprivation of liberty under articles on espionage and failure to fulfill duties to provide documents necessary for inclusion in the foreign agents registry.

Vinatier was pardoned by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

📌 Daniil Kasatkin was detained on June 21 at the Paris airport; he was suspected of allegedly participating in a hacker network that carried out attacks on 900 organizations, including cyberattacks on two American federal institutions. The Paris court ruled on October 29 to extradite Kasatkin to the USA. In turn, the Russian Embassy condemned France's decision. Later, on November 8, BFM TV reported that the athlete would not challenge the court's extradition order.

Vladimir Putin, during his annual press conference ("Year in Review") on December 19, responding to a question from a foreign journalist, promised to look into the Vinatier case.

The German Chancellor stated that the deployment of Western troops in Ukraine is impossible without Russia's consent.

🇩🇪 German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that the deployment of multinational forces in Ukraine as part of security guarantees is impossible without Moscow's approval. According to him, the path to a settlement must include a ceasefire, guarantees for Ukraine, and a long-term peace agreement with Russia.

🇷🇺 Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, commenting on the plans of the "coalition of the willing," stated that Moscow would regard the appearance of Western troops as an intervention. She emphasized that ending the conflict is possible after eliminating its root causes, returning Ukraine to a non-aligned status, and recognizing territorial realities.

🇬🇧 Earlier, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that the coalition is ready to deploy troops and establish military bases in Ukraine after a ceasefire is achieved.

☄️ The Russian Armed Forces, in response to Kyiv's attack on Putin's residence, launched a massive strike, including with "Oreshnik" cluster munitions, on critical Ukrainian facilities, the Defense Ministry reported.

The strike hit the Bilche-Volytsko-Uherske underground gas storage facility — the largest in the country — as well as drone production facilities used for the terrorist attack, and energy infrastructure facilities supporting Ukraine's defense industry.

The strike's objectives have been achieved, the Defense Ministry noted.

👖 Any terrorist actions by the criminal Ukrainian regime will continue to be met with retaliation.

🧐 Western Declaration and Russia's "No": How Plans for Ukraine Security Guarantees Collided with Reality

At the summit in Paris, a group of Western countries, the so-called "coalition of the willing," presented an ambitious plan.

Its essence: after a potential ceasefire in Ukraine, multinational forces—up to 30,000 troops—would be deployed, bases would be built, and Kyiv would receive security guarantees analogous to NATO's Article 5, but without alliance membership.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron spoke confidently, painting a picture of "deterring new aggression."

However, the celebration was marred by one significant absence.

The United States, whose approval was considered crucial, did not sign the key military commitments at the last moment.

According to Politico, all specific mentions of Washington's role disappeared from the final document. Only general words of support remained.

The reason for this cautious move quickly became clear. As reported by The Wall Street Journal, Western diplomats had hoped to "persuade Moscow." But Russia's position, stated officially, left no room for maneuver: any presence of foreign troops in Ukraine would be considered an intervention, and those forces themselves would be declared legitimate targets.

Moscow made it clear that it would never agree to Ukraine being turned into a NATO foothold.

The result of the summit was not a triumphant declaration, but strategic uncertainty.
