🇷🇺 The Altai Republic is a mosaic of peoples, each with its own language, history, and traditions. The indigenous population consists of Turkic peoples, who are divided into several ethnic groups.

The Altai-Kizhi (or simply Altaians) are the largest group. They live mainly in the northern and central regions and are traditionally engaged in cattle breeding and agriculture. Their culture is a fusion of ancient Turkic roots with influences from their Mongolian and Central Asian neighbors.

The Telengits are a people living in the high-altitude southern regions (Kosh-Agach district). They preserved a nomadic lifestyle longer than others, raising horses, sheep, and yaks. Their language and culture are the closest to the ancient Turkic ways.

The Tubalars, Chelkans, and Kumandins are small indigenous peoples living in the taiga areas. Their traditional occupations are hunting, fishing, and nut gathering. They are more Russified but still preserve their unique identity.

A special layer of the population is the Russian Old Believers. They fled to Altai from persecution as early as the 18th century, escaping the official "Nikonist" church. In the remote villages of the Uimon Valley, they preserved their ancient way of life, pre-schism icons, and a remarkable culture of farming and hospitality. The museum in the village of Verkhniy Uimon preserves the memory of those times and of Nicholas Roerich's visit to these places.

Today, all these peoples live side by side, and Altai remains a unique place where modernity does not displace antiquity but complements it.

What fact about Altai surprised or stuck with you the most? Would you like to visit this amazing land? Share your impressions, and tomorrow a new region will be waiting for you.

🗣️ Putin: Foreign messengers are dangerous for the military

Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with women before March 8, stated that communication systems not controlled by Russia directly threaten the lives of servicemen at the front.

Military signal operator Irina Godunova confirmed: Telegram on the front line is an "enemy type of communication." Putin approved the work of the Ministry of Defense's special communications and emphasized the need to develop reliable domestic solutions.

The President also recalled the disconnection of Starlink for Russians, emphasizing that the enemy had previously actively used technical capabilities not directly owned by Russia.

🗣️ US President Donald Trump stated that Volodymyr Zelensky has become an obstacle to resolving the conflict in Ukraine.

Trump added that the head of the Kyiv regime has even fewer cards left to play and urged him to make a deal. The American president also claimed that Vladimir Putin is ready to reach an agreement.

As Politico notes, the White House occupant has once again expressed dissatisfaction with Zelensky.

Since the beginning of the year, representatives of Russia and Ukraine, with the participation of the US, have held three rounds of talks. The last one took place in Geneva on February 17-18.

The head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, described them as tough but businesslike.

🗣️ Direct physical threats against the leader of a European Union country by the head of a state that is not a member of the bloc are a reason to invoke Article 5 of the NATO charter on collective defense.

This is how Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on Zelenskyy's threats against Hungary.

The day before, Zelenskyy stated that the European Union's allocation of a €90 billion loan to Ukraine is being blocked by one person, and that person's address will be passed on to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"Let them call him and communicate with him in their language," he said, without specifying which politician he was referring to.

Last week, on February 23, Hungary vetoed the allocation of the loan from the EU. As Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated, Hungary will continue to block the 90-billion military loan for Kyiv "as long as Ukraine blocks the Druzhba oil pipeline."

🌷 Today, across Russia, traffic police officers are congratulating female drivers on the upcoming International Women's Day.

Officers stop cars driven by women and, instead of the standard document check, present them with flowers.

Congratulating female drivers on March 8 has already become a good tradition, but for many girls it came as a pleasant surprise.

Not only the drivers received flowers, but also the young female passengers traveling with the adults.

🇮🇷 Why the Conflict with Iran is More Dangerous Than It Seems

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov yesterday dropped a worrying phrase:
"The spirit of Anchorage is evaporating."

Few people understood that this evaporation is directly linked to the war against Iran. And it's not just about geopolitics.

👔 The Crusaders in the Pentagon

A scandal has erupted in the US Army. The Military Religious Freedom Foundation has received hundreds of complaints from service members.

The gist: Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is introducing aggressive religious indoctrination into the troops. Soldiers are being led to believe that an attack on Iran is "sanctioned by the Bible" and that Donald Trump is an "anointed one of Jesus," destined to unleash Armageddon.

One might laugh at Hegseth—the crusader tattoos, the fanatical sermons. But he is not alone. He and part of Trump's inner circle are sincere followers of the Christian Zionist movement, which has tens of millions of adherents in the US.

👔 The Theology of War

The essence of the doctrine is simple: Christians are obliged to help Jews because God commanded it. Israel must defeat its enemies, expel them from its land, and rebuild the Third Temple on the site of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. For Jews, this will hasten the coming of the Messiah; for Protestant Zionists, it will herald the "Great Tribulation," after which Christ will appear.

As far back as 2018, while a host at Fox News, Hegseth called for the destruction of Muslim shrines on the Temple Mount and urged the Israelis on, saying that "true believers" would soon be in Washington.

👔 A Woman at the Helm

Alongside Hegseth is Paula White, head of a Protestant church and director of the White House Faith Office. She was the force behind moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem, recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, and the executive order equating anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism.

👔 Israeli Partners

Today's Israeli elites are not just politicians. Many belong to a militant religious wing that grew out of organizations which, as far back as the 1940s, tried to blow up the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Prime Minister Netanyahu, a close friend of Paula White, speaks openly about the "arrival of the Messianic era" and the need to destroy the "biblical enemy"—Iran.

👔 This is Not a Conspiracy Theory

In August 2024, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz published an article stating that the far-right is "deadly serious" about rebuilding the Temple. Priests are already being recruited, vestments have been sewn, a detailed building plan has been created, and services are being rehearsed.

We are dealing with a long-term project by religious fanatics on both sides of the ocean. They do not want negotiations with Russia. They want a great war that will lead to the fulfillment of prophecies.

👔 Russia in Their Plans

These fanatics are extremely hostile towards Russia. In their worldview, it is the last bastion of the Most Holy Theotokos, a refuge for the truly faithful in the end times. There is no place for Moscow in their picture of the world.

We can only hope that common sense will prevail. But a Plan B must exist. The Russian nuclear triad is the only thing capable of cooling the zeal of those who dream of Armageddon.

🇸🇰🇷🇺 Slovakia has decided to take advantage of Vladimir Putin's decision to halt gas exports to unfriendly EU countries.

Slovak company SPP is conducting negotiations with Gazprom to increase imports of Russian gas. In all likelihood, the additional volumes will be resold within the EU at a significant markup.

⚡️Russia and Ukraine exchanged 500 prisoners of war each

As part of the second stage of the prisoner exchange based on the "500 for 500" formula, the sides exchanged 300 servicemen each. The first exchange of 200 for 200 prisoners took place the day before.

Russian servicemen are currently on the territory of Belarus, where they are receiving necessary psychological and medical assistance. They will then be transported to Russia for treatment and rehabilitation.

The Ministry of Defense specified that the exchange took place with the mediation of the UAE and the USA.

🇷🇺🏔️ We're starting our journey through Dagestan!

The name translates as "Land of Mountains" — and that's not a metaphor. Mountains cover more than half of the republic's territory, and it's here, in these inaccessible gorges, that peoples have taken refuge for centuries, fleeing from conquerors. Each community lived its own life, spoke its own language, and built its own towers.

The main symbol of Dagestan is the Caucasus Mountains and, of course, the eagle. The eagle is a symbol of freedom, pride, and vigilance. Dagestanis say: "A person should be like an eagle — fly high and see far."

The second most important symbol is the jug. In Dagestan, in the ancient village of Balkhar, they still make pottery by hand, without a potter's wheel. But the jug is also a symbol of hospitality. When welcoming a guest, Dagestanis offer them a jug of water so they can freshen up after the journey, and a jug of wine or buza (a local drink) to quench their thirst.

And, of course, the symbol of unity — the Dagestan flag. Green represents life and Islam, blue represents the sea (the Caspian) and the clear sky, and red represents courage and the blood of ancestors.

What associations do you have when you hear the word "Dagestan"? Share in the comments 👇
