Syrian Defense Ministry Spokesperson Hassan Abd al-Ghani:

To the war criminals who have spilled the blood of our people: Despite all your equipment, you have been defeated.

Now, scattered among the mountains, you have nowhere left to seek refuge—only the courts where you will face justice.

What's happening in Syria?

During operations against former Assad regime cells, Syrian government forces targeted networks led by Brigadier General Ghiyath Dallah and coordinated by former Air Force Intelligence Chief Major General Ibrahim Howeija today.

These cells, allied with ex-regime officer Mohammed Mahrez Jabir, had begun organizing in Latakia and Homs.

They received support from Yasser Ramadan al-Hajal, a field commander in Suhail al-Hassan’s forces, with financial backing from Hezbollah and Iraqi militias, and logistical aid from YPG/PKK/SDF.

Former intelligence chief Ibrahim Howeija, who directly coordinated with these cells, was arrested during tonight’s operations.

Canada should cancel the purchase of F-35 fighter jets from the U.S.

Michael Byers, co-director of the Outer Space Institute, urges Canada to cancel its F-35 purchase, citing U.S. political instability and reliance on American-controlled systems.

He warns that without access to the aircraft’s source code, Canada would lack full operational control, compromising its sovereignty.

Lockheed Martin, the U.S. defense contractor responsible for the F-35, refuses to share this code with foreign customers, even close allies. This means:

• Every training or combat mission would require a mission data load processed through U.S. computing facilities.

• The U.S. government could deny access to these facilities, effectively crippling Canada’s F-35 fleet if it chooses to exert pressure.

• The stealth coatings on the jets can only be maintained in the U.S. or Australia, further limiting Canada’s operational independence.

Byers gives a stark warning:

“If the United States wished to invade Canada, it could achieve air superiority – perhaps with just a few keyboard strokes.”
