With deep regret, our new prime minister tells us, his government is being forced to attack the poor in order ‘balance the books’. We have to feel his pain. Clearly it comes from the heart.

After all, who could doubt that waging endless aggressive wars against workers in other parts of the world is definitely far cheaper than heating the homes of our elderly?

And is it not self-evident that the deepening crackdown on every form of dissenting speech and action is a necessary part of filling that ”£22bn hole” in the country’s finances? You know: the one that the Labour chancellor was ‘shocked’ to ‘discover’, and which has apparently been the trigger for Labour’s ‘unplanned’ ditching of its election promises within a few weeks of assuming office?

To ask these questions is to answer them.

And here's another: Is it not crystal clear by now that anyone who tells workers that Starmer, the Labour party, or any of its supposedly ‘left’ MPs (don’t laugh!) can in any way ‘fix’ capitalism, or ‘bring socialism’ (“Forward to the united front!”) are part of the problem, not part of the solution?

Sharon Graham is now pretending to be surprised that the labour party is as reactionary in office as it promised to be before it was in office. The con artistry of the union leaders must be exposed and rejected. It was obvious to all who cared to see it that Starmer was going to be this bad but the union leaders lied to their members and pretended otherwise.

This is a Daily Worker front page from 1953 exposing the war crimes of the British army in Malaya. These crimes included mass beheadings of prisoners, forced expulsion of villagers from their lands, massacres of entire villages seen as being pro communist, burning of crops and much more. This is the reality of British imperialism which the Labour Party and trade union leaders defend both then and now. This is why every time a British politician spouts some garbage about "Russian imperialism" our only response should be to laugh at him.

It was 12 years ago that I realised, though perhaps didn't want to admit it to myself, that there could be no reform of the system here in Britain. I didn't understand why at the time but as I joined the trade union movement I saw that we'd only been going backwards for longer than I'd been alive. The pressure exerted by the ruling class for continual impoverishment of the working class is constant and unyielding yet our "leaders" response to it was always utterly inadequate and pathetic. It took me many more years of defeats to fully realise what was going on, that we were in the midst of a long crisis of British capitalism that would not end and the ruling class had no option but to continually attack us. There were so many defeats and disasters over the last decade that I personally experienced and what it all came down to was the fact that we didn't understand the nature of what we were fighting and too many were still convinced that bourgeois democracy was going to (somehow) deliver reforms to us again. If you don't understand your opponent and his motivations (class interests in this case) then you can't hope to win anything. This is our fundamental problem in the west, the reality of what capitalism is has been masked for far too long and it has been masked by social democracy. Only by ridding ourselves of this rotten legacy can any progress be made. On the positive side if I can work this out then anyone can because I was a member of the most propagandised layer in British society, the university educated public sector management layer.

It is not Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas or any other middle-eastern resistance force that is constantly escalating the conflict in the middle east, but Israel. And it is doing so with the full backing of its western masters, no matter what hypocritical ‘calls for peace’ they may utter for public consumption.

If the USA and Britain wanted to stop the war, they could do it tomorrow by the simple expedient of removing all their supporting forces, stopping the daily arms deliveries and ending the flow of financial, diplomatic and media support.

They may regret not doing so when the Israeli ship finally sinks and they find themselves inextricably tied to its keel.

So according to Elon Musk (see below 👇), it's not the monopoly of social wealth by a handful of private individuals that stops the rest of us having any say in how our society functions or any share in the wealth it produces ... it's poor workers fleeing poverty and war elsewhere.

Poverty and war that result from the activities abroad of the same monopolists who control the parameters of our 'democracy' at home.

Who really benefits from this massive campaign of misdirection?

Every ruling class in crisis tries to create scapegoats on whom the workers can vent their anger. It funds and arms fascist militia to spearhead such activities in the streets and to target working-class activists (communists, trade unionists) at the same time.

Musk is calling on US workers to join the scapegoating of other workers, to accept and facilitate moves towards the openly fascist dictatorship of capital.

The question is not 'Trump or Biden?', 'Republican or Democrat?' The question is: 'The dictatorship of monopoly capital (imperialism) over the vast masses of the world's impoverished and brutalised people or the dictatorship of the working class OVER the expropriated exploiters?'

The only response to the oligarchs and their campaign of division and lies is to make common cause with migrant workers and turn our collective anger and organised strength against the capitalist-imperialist class in its entirety.

It is not the zionist-imperialist Democratic party that threatens the USA with 'extreme socialism' (whatever that is). The 'socialism' with which the US elite constantly threatens its poor workers is a figment of its fevered imagination.

What is very real, however, is the fact that the US working class will at some point wake up to the fact that it is the ruling class in waiting. That its future is, in fact, a socialist future. And that to get there, it must remove the parasitic imperialist class and its highly-paid mandarins, tear down all the machinery of class control and coercion that the monopolists have built, and set about building a new society whose role is to use the productive powers of society to satisfy the needs and wants of the people.

That is socialism.

Socialism is not Democratic party direction of this or that mechanism of state power. It is not 'high' or 'low' taxation. It is not 'big' or 'small' government.

It is the end of exploitation of man by man and nation by nation. The end of obscene inequalities, of poverty, of hunger, of homelessness, of illiteracy, of homelessness, of social isolation and fragmentation.

It is the end of economic crisis and the glaringly obscenities that arise from the capitalist system of production for profit, which will be solved by a system of production for use/need.

It is a planned economy run by and for the working people. The only people who need to be scared of such a future are the 0.001% currently living high on the backs of the poverty and misery of everyone else.

Let them tremble! And let Musk tremble too. The day is coming when such as he will have individual control over global megaphones from which to control the narrative and warp the understanding of the people.

The day is coming when they will no longer be able to "coup who they want to" in order to grab the resources of whole nations. No longer be able to set worker against worker as they laugh all the way to the bank.

The future belongs to the working people, and it will undoubtedly be a socialist future.
