Did you know that the US military once massacred up to 300 Native Americans in South Dakota? 134 years ago today, on December 29, 1890, US Calvary troops entered a camp where the Lakota people lived at Wounded Knee Creek in an attempt to disarm them, which ended in a bloodbath. By the time the shooting stopped a few hours later, there were bodies strewn everywhere, including those of babies and women. Read on.

French President Emmanuel Macron’s speech dripped with colonial arrogance, a tantrum over France losing its grip in Africa. As more and more African countries reject French imperialism, Macron refuses to face the collapse of French dominance.

The discussion on The Overlap is a fascinating one, as the fans delve into how football is changing. English football teams have historically had a local, working-class fanbase, especially in places like Liverpool, Manchester, and Newcastle. But since the Premier League came along, that’s all been shifting. Loads of things have changed, but this video focuses on one key thing: the fanbase.

The terraces are long gone, replaced with all-seater stadiums that look better on TV. Big clubs now have bars, shops, museums, and even hotels at their grounds, all aimed at tourist fans rather than the locals. Local fans are more likely to head to the pub than the club bar, buy from independent stalls instead of paying over the odds in the club shop, and go straight home after the match rather than staying in a hotel. The clubs have clocked onto where the real money is—getting fans who treat a match as an event, spending big on the extras, rather than the regulars who only fork out for the (ever-increasing) ticket prices.

We’ve talked about this in our previous podcasts, and The Overlap just about gets to the heart of it: this is all down to capitalism. The capitalist classes won’t stop chasing profits just because the Kop’s gone quiet. If we want real change, we’ve got to take our game back and force the capitalists out.

If you want to understand what "lobbying" in the U.S. government is used for, consider the case of Nestlé, which is currently lobbying against maternity leave for mothers.

The reason behind this is that Nestlé produces baby formula, and maternity leave could potentially reduce their profits if more mothers are able to stay home and breastfeed their children.

Essentially, lobbying is a tool corporate America uses to gain access to those in power and influence them, often through financial incentives, to pass laws or legislation that further boost their profits at the expense of the working class.

According to Turkish think tank Turkish Century, Saudi Arabia, Qatar & Turkey are reportedly holding consultations to build a parallel double-pipeline through Jordan & Syria that will bring Saudi petroleum & Qatari natural gas to Europe, effectively ending Russian energy dominance over the continent.

Such plans were long considered as one of the many motives behind the NATO-Gulf backed regime change war on Syria that began in 2011. The Turkish-backed HTS regime in Syria recently overthrew the Assad government.
Not only does Bono produce absolutely awful music, but he's cog in the imperialist propaganda machine. Probably advised by his handlers about which colonising company to invest in.

The band U2 worked with an Israel-linked firm; its lead singer made a fortune from Israeli investments.

Well-known band U2 is under fire for its work with an app created by Meerkat, an Israeli firm that works with the occupation army. It also previously emerged that the band's frontman, Bono, has likely made more money from investments in Israel and Israeli companies than he has in music, according to Forbes magazine. An Israeli bank is also alleged to have granted a loan worth $45 million for the purchase of Dublin hotel The Clarence, which was co-owned by Bono.
And so farewell to Mick Lynch the archetypical labour party leftist who talked a big game and always ended up trying to push workers back towards the Labour Party again. Whatever his intentions in doing so the objective impact of any trade union leader who is tied to the labour party is that they always undermine class struggles. I wonder if old Mick will end up in the House of Lords as a reward for his many services to the bourgeoisie?
