🇺🇸Trump shuts down immigration app, dashing migrants' hopes of entering U.S.

Monday afternoon, Customs and Border Protection posted on its website that the CBP One app was no longer available for requesting asylum and “existing appointments have been canceled.”

Some 280,000 people were logging into the app daily to secure an appointment as of Jan. 7.

CBP said that in December, it processed about 44,000 asylum-seekers through information submitted through the app. From January 2023 to December 2024, more than 936,500 people had scheduled appointments, CBP said.

Workers are ready to strike

Canada is once again facing the threat of railroad protests. On January 14, the overwhelming majority of workers at Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKS) voted to strike over disagreements over a new collective bargaining agreement between Unifor and their employer. The strike will begin on January 29 if negotiations fail completely. Unifor is Canada's largest private sector union. Its branch at the railroad company unites over 1,200 people who work in machine shops and service locomotives and freight cars.

Negotiations on the collective agreement began in October 2024, but the parties have not yet reached agreement on key issues. Notably, contrary to the union's wishes, the company chose to drag out the process at the last round of negotiations in November, scheduling the next meeting only for the end of January 2025, which angered the workers.

“KPCC workers play a vital role in Canada’s transportation network. We remain focused on reaching a negotiated solution that is in the best interests of our employees and their families. Our union will stand firm to ensure their service is respected and will push for a new contract,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne. “Despite further meetings, discussions have now reached an impasse. It is clear to our union that this tactic by KPCC is singular. Instead of pursuing a collective agreement with the union, they want to create chaos so the government can bail them out. We will not tolerate this,” she added.

The workers are demanding that management provide them with job security, fair wages and better working conditions. In addition, trade union activists are outraged by the KPKS's outsourcing practices and numerous cases of forced overtime.

However, the likelihood that the company will make concessions is extremely high. A similar situation occurred at the end of last month, when Unifor entered into an agreement with Canadian National Rail (PRC), providing for wage increases and a solution to problems with pension payments. PRC representatives also tried to drag out the dialogue with the union, so the workers were able to achieve what they wanted only by resorting to extreme measures - the threat of a mass strike.

The desire of employers to compromise is understandable. Let us recall that the Canadian economy and logistics largely depend on railways, the country's second largest in the world. Their shutdown could completely paralyze trade and cause colossal losses to all sectors: from industry to agriculture. In this case, the monopolists represented by Canadian National Rail and Canadian Pacific Kansas City, the country's largest transportation companies, which control about 80% of railway transportation, would suffer the most. According to the Canadian Railway Association, they deliver goods worth $1 billion daily.

As Pravda has already reported, large-scale protests broke out in Canada in August 2024: workers of both railway giants went on strike simultaneously. The strike was organized by the Teamsters union, representing the interests of engineers, conductors, dispatchers and depot workers. Almost 10 thousand people protested against dangerous working conditions and overtime. All freight trains and some passenger trains were stopped for 4 days. Daily losses of $250 million caused panic in business circles. Businessmen even asked the government of Justin Trudeau to intervene in the conflict. As a result, officials from the Canadian Labour Relations Board forced the railway workers to end the strike and return to work, and the union and employers to resolve the dispute in arbitration.

Trump's grandiose pronouncements will suffer the same fate as Biden's various schemes (remember Build Back Better?) in that they will run into the realities of degenerate imperialism. This will cause any of the vast state subsidies thrown at US corporations to be siphoned off, diverted into stock buy backs or squandered on useless projects that won't go anywhere. The system itself breeds horrendous inefficiency now, especially where there's a tonne of state funds that just be stolen. When all of his plans fail Trump will do the mirror image of what Biden did and lean heavily into IDPol but of the right wing variety, to escape the devastating consequences of his failures.

To all those pumping up Trump for the ceasefire deal just before his inauguration, please remember that it's tag team foreign policy in the US. Trump was elected to continue the Zionist alliance road map. Biden's role was to achieve total devastation to pave the way for normalization with Zionist entity, especially Saudi Arabia that has been waiting in the wings since October 7th. Trump will move US Zionist operations to new arenas that may include China, Iran, Jordan, Egypt, Yemen, Pakistan. LATAM.

The HTS atrocities (also orchestrated and deadly) will lead to foreign intervention by US, Israel, France, UK, Germany under cover of "protecting minorities" and John Kerry's 'plan B' (2016) will come to fruition - the partitioning of Syria and the regime change alliance successful resource and land grab.

Turkey is more powerful than ever and has out maneuvered regional players. The neo-Ottoman empire is no longer a maniacal fantasy.

Where does China's Belt and Road initiative go now?

All countries neighboring Israel will be de-fanged like Syria, to prevent any threat to Israel's national security emerging, now or in the future.

Trump did nothing that can be considered to be for the benefit of Palestine, he closed the Gaza file to open new ones globally.

This is a video of my comrade Ranjeet Brar after he was arrested and accused of racism for the heinous act of selling a book that contained historical truths about zionism. Comrade Ranjeet has decided to share this video as it contains certain valuable educational lesson for comrades across Britain and the other imperialist nations facing similarly repressive regimes.

The labour party leftists who briefly fell out with Starmer will immediately capitulate and grovel to him as soon as he makes an offer to them. For these people life outside of the labour party is utterly unthinkable and so is carrying out any sustained opposition to British imperialism. There's no leadership to be found amongst these clowns whatsoever and there never was.

🇷🇺 Russia’s Budget Revenues in December Reached a Record High Despite New "Strongest" Sanctions – Bloomberg

Russia’s revenues reached a record high last month, even after the U.S. introduced a new powerful sanctions package targeting the banking sector, aiming to disrupt foreign trade payments and restrict export revenues.

Total revenues in December amounted to over 4 trillion rubles ($40 billion), increasing by 28% compared to the same month last year, according to the Ministry of Finance.

This is the highest level recorded in the Ministry’s data since January 2011.

The U.S. and its allies are trying to halt the Kremlin’s "war machine" by restricting export revenues. At the end of 2024, they imposed additional sanctions against Russia’s energy sector and the banks servicing it. Nevertheless, oil and gas revenues in December grew by a third compared to the previous year and increased by 26% in 2024. Other revenue sources showed similar growth throughout the year due to taxes and dividends, supported by active economic growth.

“The volume of non-oil and gas revenues in 2024 significantly exceeded the estimates set in the 2025–2027 budget law, including from the largest tax sources,” the Ministry of Finance stated.

The revenue increase allowed the government to spend more than ever before – total expenditures for the month amounted to 7.15 trillion rubles, breaking the previous record set in December 2022.

Capitalism’s gluttony knows no bounds. It churns out mountains of goods, not to meet our needs, but to line the pockets of the few. Yet, while warehouses overflow, millions go without. This is overproduction. A system that creates excess for profit while leaving people hungry, homeless, and in debt.

At the same time, wages are driven down to maximise these profits, leaving the workers unable to afford the very goods they produce. Capitalism cannot be reformed; it must be overthrown. Only revolution can install the ruling class in waiting: the workers.

It is with great regret comrades that i can confirm that the founder of the CPGB-ML, Comrade Harpal Brar, died this morning at the age of 85.

What Comrade Harpal and his comrades have achieved cannot be underestimated. In the face of an all out assault on Marxism-Leninism from the head of CPSU itself (Khruschev) joining with the trotskyites, the US and British imperialists and all of their academic con men they have not only preserved the tradition in the heart of imperialism itself but added to it and strengthened it for the future.

For many of us who came to the party having been through social democracy/trotskyism Comrade Harpal's work has been invaluable in helping us make sense of our own failures in the past and how to learn and rectify those mistakes to play a part in rebuilding the revolutionary tradition in Britain. Now, we have a real opportunity to build our party and can go forward with deserved confidence in taking the weapon of Marxism-Leninism to our class and arming them with it.

We're it not for his work this project would not be what it has become because I would not have come to Marxism-Leninism and this project would not exist at least in this form.

The best way to honour the legacy of our departed comrade is to continue our work in the manner that he set out for us. The working class need the weapon of Marxism-Leninism in order to achieve true freedom and thanks to Comrade Harpal that tradition has survived for us to take to our class.

A red salute to his memory and legacy.

The image is meant to illustrate how national chauvinism, organised religion, and consumerism operate as interlocking control mechanisms under capitalism, pacifying and fragmenting the working class. These forces are not neutral or incidental but deliberate tools of the ruling class to maintain their hegemony over the proletariat.

National Chauvinism divides workers by encouraging them to identify with their oppressors along national lines rather than uniting across borders in class solidarity. Wrapped in the flag of the bourgeoisie, the worker is blinded to the reality that national interests are often synonymous with the interests of capital.

The Church, traditionally aligned with ruling classes, sanctifies this exploitation by preaching submission and patience in the face of systemic inequality. The alliance between religion and the state often serves to dull revolutionary consciousness, diverting the proletariat’s gaze from material conditions to spiritual salvation.

Consumerism, represented here by the iconic symbols of global capitalism, lulls workers into complacency by creating an illusion of choice and freedom in the marketplace while alienating them further from the products of their labour. It transforms basic needs and desires into commodities, ensuring endless profit for the bourgeoisie.

As Stalin wrote in Marxism and the National Question:
National oppression is maintained not only by the bourgeoisie of the oppressor nation but also by the bourgeoisie of the oppressed nation. The liberation of the oppressed nations is impossible without a struggle against the privileges and chauvinism of the dominant nations, and without combating the nationalism of the oppressed nations.

This highlights how nationalism, whether wielded by oppressor or oppressed nations, serves as a barrier to genuine liberation. In the hands of the bourgeoisie, nationalism becomes a weapon to divide workers, shifting their focus from class struggle to inter-national rivalry. For workers, the fight is not against other nations but against the capitalist system itself, which exploits all nations for profit.

⌛️📚THIS DAY IN HISTORY🪧

On this day in 1979, the Farm Labor Organizing Committee (FLOC), founded by Baldemar Velasquez in 1967, boycotted Campbell's and Nestle to demand union recognition, higher wages, and better conditions for migrant workers.

This followed a 1978 strike where 2,000 members walked off jobs in Ohio, seeking guaranteed wages, housing, and medical care.

The campaign included creative protests like a poster spoofing Campbell's as "Cream of Exploitation Soup" and a 560-mile march to Campbell's New Jersey headquarters.

In 1986, FLOC secured a landmark agreement with Campbell's, achieving union recognition, wage increases, and committees to address worker welfare, leading to deals with other major companies.

If the rabid hostility of US imperialism towards even social democrats like Gustavo Petro continues it may have a radicalising effect. The ability of Russia to withstand sanctions and the willingness of China to trade with sanctioned nations provides inspiration for genuinely sovereignist moves. These will not be easy of course and a nation like Colombia will have to go through a struggle against the domestic reactionaries in order to limit the power US imperialism is able to project into their country. A way has been opened out of the unrestricted dominance of the US imperialists and more leaders will attempt to walk that path now.

“What a torch of reason ceased to burn, what a heart has ceased to beat!”

Harpal Brar (5 October 1939 -
25 January 2025) was the founder and first chairman of the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist).

Here he speaks at the Oxford and Durham unions against the motions ‘Capitalism can save the planet’ and ‘The West has a duty to impose democracy’.

Only those with an incurably backward, servile, cynical and exploitative mindset could have formulated the motions in 2008 and 2011, amidst the catastrophic decline and crisis of the global capitalist system.

Harpal destroyed the bourgeois ‘intellects’ ranged against him. Always. For that reason his message was stifled and censored on all bourgeois and ‘social-democratic’ platforms.

“The weapon of criticism cannot, of course, replace criticism of weapons, material force must be overthrown by material force; but theory also becomes a material force as soon as it has gripped the masses.”
