EU leaders shuffled out of their Thursday powwow and even Politico had to acknowledge that the whole thing collapsed into a glorious mess. Not dead, mind you—just limping along, downgraded from "epic rescue" to "eh, we tried." Turns out, Kaja Kallas forgot the tiny detail of getting everyone on board. If you want to derail the EU, pick a certified Russophobe from an artificial micro state in the Baltics as "top diplomat". Instead of diplomacy you will get righteous indignation, NATO cheerleading, and a sprinkle of "the Russians are coming" paranoia. What could go wrong? 😅

"Kaja Kallas had high hopes of being able to mobilize as much as €40 billion of military aid to shore up Ukraine's position on the battlefield and strengthen its hand in upcoming talks with Russia.
But as EU leaders wound up their gathering in Brussels on Thursday, the plan lay in tatters — not quite dead, but dramatically downgraded from its original ambition.
The problems started, several EU diplomats said, from the plan's inception when the former Estonian prime minister failed to win prior buy-in from crucial stakeholders. The process had been 'botched up,' one of the diplomats summarized. Unfortunately for Kallas her plan didn't survive impact with the reality of a European Union where interest in making sacrifices for Kyiv varies dramatically from country to country."

EU plan to send more military aid to Ukraine in shambles – POLITICO
The bloc had aimed to send billions in military aid and artillery ammunition to Kyiv, but member countries split on the plan.
This threat of connoscription from Starmer’s Labour Party is an empty one.
The conflict in Ukraine is slowly winding down, and Britain hasn’t been invited to the peace process. So, to save face, the British state is puffing out its chest, pretending it didn’t want a seat at the table in the first place.
Starmer’s tough-guy routine is as transparent as everything else he does. He’s nothing more than a servant of the ruling class—groomed to serve faithfully in this era of decaying capitalism.

There is no innate virtue in being a labour union member, contrary to received wisdom on the Left, and labour unions are not inherently 'good'.
Union members in both the UK and US are making the bombs and the parts that slaughter Palestinians and Yemenis. These 'workers' are functionaries of imperialism, as are the 'workers' weaponised by imperialist intelligence agencies to foment regime change plots in revolutionary states like Venezuela or the Islamic Republic of Iran.
A mature global Left must move beyond the banal moral reading of labour unions = good and workers = heroes towards a material understanding of imperialism, hybrid warfare and the role that 'workers' in imperialist states play in killing revolutionaries around the world; benefitting from imperialist wars; and maintaining the imperialist status quo to suit their own material interests.
What have we done to fight imperialism lately?

On this day, 5 March 1984, the great UK miners’ strike began when miners at Cortonwood colliery walked out in response to the Conservative government’s announcement of a pit closure plan. Some other pits were already on strike in other disputes, but the strikes against closures spread across Yorkshire, and four days later the National Union of Mineworkers called a national strike, which was joined by a majority of miners around the country.
Women, many of them miners’ wives, played a crucial role in supporting the strike, helping the workers to remain out for nearly a year.
Prime minister Margaret Thatcher and her government were determined to break the power of workers’ organisations and push through mass privatisation and free market reforms. They had learned from their previous defeats in miners’ strikes in 1972 and 1974. They built up coal stocks, so they could withstand a long strike, and then deliberately provoked the strike by announcing the closure plan in spring when coal was in less demand than during the cold winter months. The defeat of the miners, who had been the most well-organised and most militant group of workers in Britain, marked a decisive turning point in the balance of power between workers and employers in the country. It eventually led to the much more atomised and individualised nature of the working class in Britain today.

One of many notions that we must not only dispel but smash completely is that the Labour Party was once a party of the working class. It was not. It was and always has been an anti-worker party of imperialism.
Whether it was Labour sending young British working class men to fight against communists in the jungles of Malaya, or colluding with the ruling class and the TUC to defeat the miners in 1985, they have always acted against the interests of the working class.
While probably well intentioned, the idea that Labour was once a ‘good’ party and is now a ‘bad’ one implies that there is some redemption that can be won - that the ship can be steered away from its current heading towards somewhere kinder and softer.
It cannot. Labour is what social democracy has always been: anti-worker, anti-socialist and rabidly pro-imperialist to its bones. The sooner we all understand this truth, the sooner we can build a mass movement to create something genuinely new for all of us.

🇺🇸💥🚨THIS DAY IN HISTORY
On March 21, 1947, President Harry Truman, who had sought the KKK's support early in his career and initiated U.S. involvement in the Korean War, signed Executive Order 9835, the "Loyalty Order," to root out communist influence in the federal government by authorizing the FBI to screen employees for left-wing ties.
It led to investigations of over three million federal workers, with about 300 fired as security risks, and created the Attorney General's List of Subversive Organizations (AGLOSO).
Revoked by Eisenhower in 1953 and replaced with stricter measures, both orders were later repealed by President Bill Clinton in the 1990s, long after most self-proclaimed "communist" organizations had become assets of the bourgeois state.

Surprise, surprise. The BBC is producing such anti-worker articles as this. Blaming the bin men for daring to strike and not those that refuse to pay adequate wages.

This is a beautiful rendition of the song 'Grace' written by Frank and Sean O'Meara.
The song tells the tale of Joseph Plunkett and his comrade and lover Grace Gifford. Both artists and revolutionaries, they were a part of the Easter Uprising 1916. Joseph was captured and sentenced to death.
A few hours before Joseph's execution, Grace was brought to Kilmainham Gaol, under guard, they were allowed to be wedded in front of soldiers and priests.
After they were married they were given 10 minutes together before Joseph was taken outside and shot.
These heart wrenching words immortalise these revolutionaries and their love in the midst of a struggle for freedom.
Oh Grace, just hold me in your arms and let this moment linger,
They take me out at dawn and I will die.
With all my love I place this wedding ring upon your finger,
There won't be time to share our love, for we must say goodbye...

The winding down of the Ukraine conflict, marked by peace talks between Russia and the United States, proves two things.
First, it highlights Britain's utter insignificance on the world stage. It has become nothing more than another NATO lackey, wholly subservient to U.S. interests.
Second, it confirms that we are now firmly in a multipolar world. The United States can no longer bully its way across the globe as it has done for the past fifty years. Powers like Russia, China, and even Iran are increasingly able to assert their own interests with the U.S. unable to challenge.
