Workers have been losing their faith in elections and the political process for decades.

It is the job of communists to help them develop this instinctive aversion into a proper understanding of just why it is that this system is so incapable of serving their interests.

We doubt very much that any inquest will lead into assigning blame to where it belongs as the contract was taken out, alongside many others, when the Liverpool Labour Council was being accused of corruption. Many of the councillors involved in these deals are still in the same roles.

Once again George Galloway will do anything for attention. He's even jumping head first into the conspiracy theories about the Liverpool Football Club trophy parade. Utterly lacking in any real research past what's shared on X by other fools.

We can happily say we offer a better researched and understood critique.

Labour and NATO are entwined within the same imperialist machine. It was a Labour government under Clement Attlee that helped found NATO in 1949—an alliance explicitly designed to push back against the expansion of socialism from the Soviet Union and entrench American military presence in Europe. Since then, Labour has backed every imperialist war and never once questioned Britain’s role in NATO, not even under Corbyn, whose “anti-war” stance vanished the moment it challenged party unity.

It follows that the trade unions tethered to Labour are just as complicit. The TUC supported NATO intervention in Yugoslavia and Libya, and today many unions pass motions backing Britain’s arming of Ukraine. Sharon Graham’s Unite has gone further. Calling for more military production under the guise of “defending jobs.” This isn’t defence; it’s war profiteering dressed up as workers’ rights.

The entire Labour-union-NATO axis is a betrayal of the working class. Their loyalty lies not with peace or safety of the workers as Stamer professes it to be, but with British imperialism and all its facets.

🤦 The British authorities have backed up the release of their Strategic Defence Review with a fresh salvo of anti-Russian rhetoric.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer, somewhat incongruously, sought to attribute the ongoing economic failures under the Labour government to what he termed Moscow’s "growing aggression". It turns out that the peaceful passage of Russian vessels through the English Channel is somehow "hitting working people" of Britain. Meanwhile, Defence Secretary John Healey has gone so far as to allege unspecified "daily attacks" on the UK by Russia.

The Embassy categorically rejects these false and bizarre accusations.

It is regrettable that, having replaced the Conservatives, Labour continues to invent the same Russophobic fabrications in an attempt to mask its own economic ineptitude and to justify the hike in military spending that the UK can scarcely afford. <...>

❗️ Russia poses no threat to the United Kingdom and its people. We harbour no aggressive intentions and have no plans to attack Britain. We are not interested in doing so, nor do we need to. <...>

If Britain's government were truly committed to strengthening both national and international security, it could, instead of fuelling jingoistic hysteria, immediately end the proxy war unleashed against Russia by the Kiev regime and embark on a path towards a comprehensive and peaceful settlement.

The UK could also lift its illegitimate unilateral trade and financial sanctions imposed on Russia. It is these measures, rather than mythical Russian "attacks", that are generating "economic pain" for the British people, to use Mr Starmer's own words.

As with the antiwar movement, so with the anti-austerity movement, what began life as a vibrant and motivated mass movement made up of hundreds of thousands, even millions, of angry workers, has been run into a ditch by the same group of traitors who co-opt the leadership of every struggle and divert it into harmless activities until its participants fade away in disillusionment and disgust.

To begin to be successful in organising our opposition to austerity and war, new forms of organisation are going to be needed, and a genuinely working-class leadership created.

5 Labour MP’s endorse the Gaza Genocide, visiting Israeli war criminals

The five British Labour Party MP’s were taken on a pro-Israel tour endorsing the Apartheid regime while it commits genocide, the most racist atrocity since the Second World War. Jon Pearce, Cat Eccles, Kevin McKenna, Peter Prinsley and Mark Sewards all travelled to occupied Palestine as supporters of the regime committing genocide.

French dock workers refuse to load ammunition bound for Israel, citing solidarity with Gaza.

In a powerful act of solidarity, French dockworkers at the Port of Fos-sur-Mer refused on June 5 to load a shipment of machine gun ammunition destined for the Israeli military. The workers, affiliated with the CGT union, took a firm stand against what they described as complicity in the ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza, where tens of thousands of Palestinians have been killed, starved, or displaced under Israel’s military campaign.

Their courageous decision is part of a growing wave of international labor solidarity rejecting the use of ports and trade routes to support war and occupation.

In a press release, the CGT dockers stated: "We will not participate in the ongoing genocide orchestrated by the Israeli government".

The issue of low pay is at the heart of decaying public health and social care provision in Britain.

Privatisation has turned our vital public services into cash cows for profiteers, while delivering less and less to those in need. While the cream of the budget is siphoned off to shareholders and CEOs, the care workers themselves are expected to survive on impossibly low salaries while running in circles trying to fill the yawning gaps left by chronic understaffing.

The net result is a demoralised and stressed-out workforce fronting up for a thoroughly inadequate and highly rationed service, which no longer delivers preventive or timely interventions, but doles out what for too many feels like ‘too little, too late’.

French dockers block military cargo shipment to Israel

Port workers in southern France have refused to handle military cargo destined for Israel. The cargo contained machine gun parts and was provided by Marseille-based Eurolink, according to a statement from the dockers' union. It was scheduled to be shipped via Marseille-Foss to Haifa on June 5.

After the containers of spare parts were discovered, the workers notified their employers that they would not load them onto the ship. The union said the dockers would not participate in "Israel's genocide":

Dockers will not participate in the genocide carried out by Israel. We fight for peace, for an end to wars throughout the world, for a society in which capitalist exploitation has disappeared

🇬🇧 This is a disgrace and an insult to true Trade Unionists who are persecuted the world over!

Never mind that the "abducted Ukrainian children" myth has been well and truly debunked.

What about child poverty in Britain?
What about Starmer's refusal to commit to ending the two-child benefit cap?
What about the UK-supported holocaust unfolding in Gaza?
What about the daily murder of Palestinian children live-streamed on our phones?

No, it would seem that the priority of the British TUC and trade union bureaucracy is to mobilise anti-Russian sentiment on the flimsiest of pretexts.

This call is a sign of desperation from an imperialist "one nation" trade union movement that has lost its way. Desperate to shore up a flailing Starmer, whose only answer to every challenge is to take us to war. The warmonger who is so despised that the ruling class and their journalistic hounds are already turning on him, realising that he is incapable of mobilising the country to war.

"It’s not a Labour party the workers need. It’s a revolutionary party pledged to overthrow the capitalist class in the only way it can be done by putting up barricades and taking over factories by force. There is no other way"
