The Labour Party boasts of a new “returns deal” with France. Posters are plastered on French beaches warning against the crossing, as if a bit of PR can frighten people fleeing war and hunger.

And then the real story: three people dead in the Channel overnight. More missing. Families destroyed in the dark waters between Calais and Dover.

These deaths are not accidents of nature. They are the direct outcome of policy. Safe routes are blocked, asylum processes are deliberately made difficult, and every government from Tory to Labour treats migrants as pawns in any election or in popularity contests like Starmer attempting to out reactionary the reactionaries.

Deterrence kills. Walls, fences, and deals with Paris do nothing but push desperate people into more dangerous routes. The Channel is turned into a graveyard because capital demands cheap labour abroad, then demonises those same workers when they try to survive.

Imperialism create refugees with their wars, their arms sales, and their plunder. Then they slam the door, whip up nationalist hysteria, and tell us to blame the migrant in the dinghy instead of the capitalist in the boardroom.

Every banner, every policy, every speech about “small boats” is a distraction. It is a sideshow to mask the fact that it is the ruling class who wreck economies, displace millions of workers, and then profit from the suffering.

No poster on a French beach changes that truth.

The Rock Houses, Kinver, Stourbridge.

They date back to 1777 and some believe people may have lived in the rock houses much earlier.

Workers considered these houses to be good homes due to their warmth in winter, coolness in the summer. They are not part of the national trust.

The lost ingenuity of the working class before capitalism commodified everything under the sun.

Peter Mandelson back in the headlines. Same old name, same old stench.

In the 90s he resigned twice, first over a secret loan for his London house, then over helping a passport deal for a billionaire. Later he reinvented himself as the “Prince of Darkness,” fronting New Labour’s spin machine, always with one foot in business and the other in politics.

Since then? Cosying up to Epstein, lobbying for oligarchs, raking in fees as a fixer for the rich. Brought in by Starmers cabinet of sleaze where he was once again fallen foul of the headlines due to stench of corruption.

Now Labour pretends this is a another one-off mistake. A few bad apples, but Starmer isn’t “appointing the wrong people.” He’s appointing the usual people. The whole layer is cut from the same cloth, lobbyists, bag-men, boardroom courtiers.

Different decade, same corruption. Different leader, same party.

Gary Lineker is awarded the Presenter of the year not long after the BBC gave him the boot for his very mid criticisms of Israel.

Starmer has defended his appointment of Mandelson by saying Britain “needed an unconventional ambassador for an unconventional US.”

Translation: the slick PR man could talk to Trump’s team in a way Starmer couldn’t. Trump and Musk have already publicly maligned Starmer. Mandelson was meant to bridge the gap — not with principle, but with connections.

And that’s the point. Mandelson’s history with Epstein doesn’t make him unfit for the role in Starmer’s eyes, it makes him part of the club. The same club of lobbyists, billionaires, predators and fixers that are all part of the capitalist system.

When Starmer says “unconventional,” he means “compromised.” And that’s the qualification the ruling class needs for high office.

Approximately 100,000 (not the millions reported by the reactionaries) marched through London today behind Tommy Robinson. They called it “Unite the Kingdom.” Really it's state funded reactionaries leading propagandised workers into a parade that supports the ruling class that oppresses them.

English and Israeli flags, the butchers apron and chants of “send them home,” speeches dressed up as “free speech.” Even Elon Musk beamed in by video, lending billionaire gloss to street racism.

This isn’t new. In 1930s Germany they blamed Jews. In the 1970s it was Caribbean and Asian workers. Today it’s the refugees. Always the same trick: whip up hate against the most vulnerable so the imperialists, who create the issues in our society, can avoid blame.

People aren’t marching because immigrants took their jobs. They’re marching because wages are flat, housing is a scam, the NHS is being gutted. But instead of marching on Westminster or the landlords, they’re marched down Whitehall waving flags for Tommy Robinson, or Stephen Yaxley Lennon as is his real name.

“Unite the Kingdom”? No. Divide the workers, protect the elite.

“The working class does not advance an inch towards its emancipation through the parliamentary swindle. On the contrary, it finds itself more enslaved, for now the chains are hidden under the illusion of democracy.”

Another Premier League season and another ticket hike. Thirteen out of twenty Premier League clubs have raised ticket prices for 25/26. At Manchester United it’s around 5% (currently prices range from £37 to £97). Elsewhere in the league it’s the same story.

For workers, that’s not a “small increase.” Wages are flat, rents have sky rocketed, food and bills keep climbing. A few quid more each match adds up to fans being priced out — the very people who built the game.

Clubs dress it up as “keeping up with costs.” But these are the same clubs signing off £100m+ transfers and pocketing record broadcast cash.

This isn’t about balancing the books. It’s about squeezing every drop from loyal supporters because they can. Football is drifting further into a corporate day-out for the more affluent workers and tourists, while lifelong working-class fans get pushed out.

If football really belonged to the people, ticket prices would be at affordable rates, especially for local fans — capped, fair, and affordable. Right now that looks a million years away, as corporate capitalism looks to continue its rampant profiteering from the beautiful game.

Elon Musk didn’t just stumble into Tommy Robinson’s London rally — it was organised for him to beam in. One of the richest men on earth lending his platform to Britain’s far right.

Robinson isn’t some homegrown reactionary acting alone. He’s long been tied to pro-Israel networks. He’s travelled to Israel, posed with IDF soldiers, and his court costs were bankrolled by the Middle East Forum — a pro-Israel think tank in the US. His brand of anti-Muslim hate speech is the same propaganda line used to excuse the occupation of Palestine: Islam as the eternal threat.

Musk’s ties run deep in the same system. His company Starlink was used across Ukraine with Pentagon backing, providing battlefield comms to NATO’s proxy war. In Israel, he’s inked satellite deals while his platform amplifies the very voices pushing Islamophobia at home. The “free speech” fig leaf hides a simple truth: Musk is an imperialist contractor, serving US and Israeli war aims while posturing as a sort of anti-hero for the workers.

This isn’t accident or “eccentricity.” It’s coordination. Robinson whips up hatred of Muslims on the streets. Musk gives it reach and legitimacy. His purchase of twitter (now called X) has seen him use the social media site to spew the same reactionary hatred. Both feed into a wider narrative that dehumanises Muslims everywhere, justifying surveillance at home and bombardment abroad.

And all the while, the anger of working people is pushed away from landlords, profiteers and billionaires. Creating a rage that is taken out on the workers suffering under the most perilous conditions, not the ruling class sat comfortably in their ivory towers.

Musk and Robinson show the alliance for what it is: imperialists, capital and reactionaries marching together.
