Most people don’t realise this, and no liberal school or capitalist media will tell you, but paid maternity leave was first introduced not in the “progressive” West, but in the Soviet Union. As early as 1917, after the October Revolution, women workers were guaranteed time off before and after giving birth, with full job protection and benefits. This was only possible because of the advances of a planned economy which puts the needs of workers before profit.
Compare that to Britain at the time. Here, women were still fighting for the vote, chained to poverty wages, and forced to leave work altogether when pregnant. Maternity leave in Britain didn’t even exist until the 1970s, and even then it was far weaker.
When people sneer at socialism, remind them that it was the USSR that treated working-class women as human beings first, long before capitalism was forced to make concessions to British workers.

These people will lead us precisely nowhere. It now must be said that treacherous and dull witted socdems are truly a dangerous breed because they inspire false hope and have no understanding of the forces that they're up against or they do and they're just on the grift.

Ticket prices in the old English National League were affordable for working-class fans. That changed with the birth of the Premier League and the explosion of TV money.
The global appeal brought in billions through broadcasting and marketing, but as always the profits never filtered down to the people who built the game. Instead of improving conditions for working-class supporters, the money only served owners and investors. Ordinary fans were priced out of regular attendance, while clubs shifted towards catering for a more tourist-style crowd.

Trump is behaving in exactly the same manner as he did during his first term. He makes loud threats one minute, conciliatory noises the next followed be even louder threats if this doesn't work. The fact that this is not working on the Russians makes him more likely to agree to whatever delusional nonsense that the Europeans and Zelensky are likely to put in front of him. This won't change the outcome of the war, nor is it really a significant departure from the policy of the Biden administration. Both Biden and Trump would face the same material reality, that of diminishing war material and the Russians being able to outproduce the entire NATO block. The limits of the US industrial base have been cruelly exposed and thus the imperialists are stuck. Had Harris won a similar dance would now be going on but with a slightly more inebriated lead performer.

UK inflation is projected to be the highest out of the G7 countries this year. An unenviable position of being one of the most struggling imperialists.
Food costs are climbing, wages are continuing to be stunted and our services are being broken down for parts.
And why? Because instead of taxing the corporations and landlords (themselves) who gorge on crisis, the state raises revenue through hidden levies — inflation itself and the £25bn NIC hike. A hike that has seen no increase in our public services. Just more contracts to syphon public money through.
Inflation isn’t some natural storm. It’s class war in numbers: workers pay more for less, while the ruling class continues to cash in.

A call from the port workers of Genoa to dockers and workers across Europe.
Dockworkers in the Italian port of Genoa have consistently led the way in obstructing the efforts of the Nato war machine.
As well as stopping arms shipments to Israel they have also stopped shipments of munitions to Ukraine and to Saudi Arabia (for use in its genocidal war against Yemen).
Their example is one that should be followed by workers everywhere.
Non-cooperation now!

This weekend, port worker delegations will meet with workers involved in the direct and/or indirect supply chain of transporting or producing war materials.
Uber’s New Delivery? Occupation Tech.
Uber has put tens of millions into Flytrex, an Israeli drone company with Federal Aviation Administration: Beyond Visual Line of Sight (FAA BVLOS) clearance. They say it’s about creating quicker Uber Eats this year and beyond. The truth is that Israel’s tech sector runs on dual-use. Drones planned for food delivery are the same systems that can be turned into tools of surveillance and further military attacks
This isn’t “innovation.” It’s capital flowing into the imperialist military infrastructure. Drones don’t just carry food; they normalise aerial policing, mapping, and automation that dumps couriers and surveils neighbourhoods. Israel uses the equipment to spy on and murder Palestinians.
If Uber wants our money, they should publish the deal terms and human-rights safeguards. Pull any deals that help Israel continue it's genocidal campaign and constant war on the middle east.

With the Labour and Tory parties both drained of credibility, the ruling class has been training up a new reserve team, which is now ready to be brought into play.
Farage’s job is to pose as an ‘outsider’ the establishment doesn’t want us to listen to – all while his party and its anti-migrant rhetoric are given massive promotion in establishment media.
The aim is both to keep workers putting their faith in the increasingly distrusted parliamentary system, and to persuade them to direct their anger and frustration at other workers rather than at the capitalist system and those who rule it.

Reform: scapegoating migrants to save capitalism
Nigel Farage is simply one more player in a game of ‘divide and rule’ that the British ruling class has been directing for 200 years.
The Labour government boasts of offering 30 hours “free” childcare, but only to those already in work. Parents on benefits are ignored. That alone tells us what childcare policy is really about. It isn’t about the child, or about equality of opportunity. It’s about rewarding those who can still be fitted into the labour market.
Under capitalism, childcare isn’t treated as a workers right or as an investment in children’s development. It’s treated as a selective privilege, handed out to those who are actively selling their labour. If you can still be profitable to the system, you’re offered a little relief. If you can’t, you’re left to fend for yourself, even though your child’s needs are no different.
Nurseries are just another cog in the British capitalist machine. Either they rake in money through inflated fees, or they function as a way to grease the wheels of employment, ensuring that parents stay usable to the market. The child is an afterthought. The parent is only valued so far as they are able to work within the confines of capitalism.
