It has been alleged at the ongoing Undercover Policing Inquiry in the UK that a Metropolitan Police spycop unit passed the home address of anti-racist activist Mark Metcalfe to members of the violent far-right group Combat 18 (C18).
Mark Metcalfe testified before the Undercover Policing Inquiry (UCPI) that he was targeted by C18 and that this targeting occurred with the collusion of the Metropolitan Police.
The allegation is that a Special Demonstration Squad (SDS) officer, Mark Jenner (who used the alias "Mark Cassidy"), had access to Metcalfe's personal details and that these details, including his address, were shared with members of the far-right group.
Metcalfe was a prominent anti-racist activist in groups such as Youth Against Racism in Europe and No Platform in the 1990s and 2000s. Police spying on anti-fascist and trade union activists was widespread, and it has been established that Special Branches nationwide illegally provided personal details of political activists to employers' blacklists.

A new year begins.
Long before socialism was made respectable, it was printed in back rooms, passed hand to hand, and read aloud among workers.
Before it was filtered into acceptable forms - parliamentary social democrats, NGO politics, and the endless churn of Trotskyist micro-sects, it was a weapon of class struggle.
That is the lineage we stand in.
The Class Consciousness Project exists to cut through managed dissent, offer a critical look at the armatures of capitalism as they actually function, and root political understanding back in class — not individualism, not fetishism and not the rampant careerism of so many left of imperialism.
In the year ahead we will continue our forthright analysis, expand our reach, and continue to produce material that refuses compromise with the system that exploits us. We will never temper our analysis to suit populist ideals.
Happy New Year from the Class Consciousness Project.

Councils vs Government
Local councils are being blamed for service cuts, closures, and “difficult decisions”, yet they operate under conditions imposed from above. Funding is set by central government. Spending is capped. Borrowing is restricted. Legal duties remain.
They are told to balance budgets while being denied the means to do so.
Let's be clear councils are not passive victims. Many have embraced their role as administrators of decline. Years of careerism, corruption, and political opportunism have hollowed out local government from within. Those who enter this system already understand its limits, but use it as a stepping stone — a credential for better-paid positions elsewhere.
Liverpool is a prime example. Patronage networks, crony contracts, and political self-preservation have flourished spectacularly alongside cuts imposed on working-class communities. Endless investigations. Little to no accountability. The reward for loyal service to capitalism is often immunity from real consequence.
So while councils may not control austerity, they choose how enthusiastically they enforce it.
We’ve seen this before.
In the interwar period, councils were tasked with managing mass unemployment and poverty without the power to resolve either. Central government dictated the terms, but local authorities often went further — disciplining the poor, policing dissent, and protecting their own positions. Those who resisted were crushed. Those who complied built careers.
Today’s Section 114 notices, “efficiency savings”, and service closures are the modern version of the same arrangement. Different language. Same class logic. Central government sets the trap. Local politicians administer it — and many make themselves comfortable doing so.
This is why blaming councils alone is wrong.
But treating them as blameless is just as false.
Local government isn’t simply failing.
It has become a layer of the state staffed largely by careerists whose interests no longer align with the communities they claim to represent.
Austerity is imposed from above.
But it is enforced — often eagerly — from treacherous opportunists who sell out their class.

The United States has launched a brazen act of imperialist aggression against Venezuela, seizing democratically elected President Nicolás Maduro from his home alongside his family under the pretext of “narco-terrorism”. This is not law enforcement. It is regime-change politics by any means, aimed at breaking a sovereign state that refuses to submit and throwing the country open to Western capitalist expansion
We’ve seen this pattern before. Especially in Latin America that the US claims as it's backyard. Sanctions, coups, kidnappings, always dressed up as justice, always ending the same way. The real target is the Venezuelan working class. Our solidarity is, and always will be, with them, against imperialism and against the criminal arrogance of the US state.

The repeated revelations of paedophilia in high places, along with the details of Jeffrey Epstein’s role as an agent for Anglo-American and zionist intelligence agencies have convinced me of this:
- That there is no weird coincidence at play. It is not so much that high office breeds depravity as a predilection for depravity is a precondition for promotion.
- That access to illicit behaviours like drug-fuelled orgies and sex with minors is presented as a perk of high office.
- That those who are not interested in these perks are unlikely to be allowed to achieve the highest level in any public field, whether Hollywood, Fleet Street, Parliament or Church.
- That the existence of a file of compromising material on all those in the public eye is considered as necessary insurance by the ruling class, whose power is more precarious than it looks.
- Essentially, those who go along with this game can ‘enjoy’ the privileges of feeling themselves to be above the law, members of the club etc, and will remain untouchable while engaging in the most disgusting behaviours SO LONG AS THEY NEVER STEP OUT OF LINE.
- But Fleet Street and the police will be mobilised to denigrate and incarcerate any whistleblower the second it looks like they might be going to spill the beans about the true nature of the ruling class, its wars, its lies and its dictatorship.
We should note well in all of this the absolute discipline of the highest media editors in preserving silence for decades regarding well-known degenerates and their heinous crimes. If they are not members of this club themselves, they certainly understand the way the game is played and are willing to play their parts.

Shell, BP seek return to Venezuela following Maduro's abduction
US and international energy firms are set to profit from exploiting Venezuela's oil reserves, which are considered the largest in the world.
British energy giant Shell could earn billions of dollars in profits from new Venezuelan gas projects following US President Donald Trump's abduction of Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro, the Telegraph reported on 5 January.
Shell plans to exploit the massive Dragon natural gas field lying between Venezuela and the maritime border of Trinidad and Tobago. The project to develop the field, which holds an estimated 120 billion cubic meters of gas, is expected to generate $500 million in annual revenue for up to three decades, potentially yielding billions in profit.

Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Ron Springett attaching wedding flowers from his buttonhole to the goal nett for luck.
September 8, 1962, Springett got married on Saturday morning and vowed to keep a clean sheet in the match against Arsenal that same day in the afternoon.
Unfortunately he did not keep a clean sheet and they lost 3-2. Could you imagine a player nowadays playing a match just after his wedding?
