The UK is returning a set of gold artifacts to Ghana, a century and a half after they were unlawfully taken from a king in the West African nation during the 19th century. the British Museum and V&A said the items would only be loaned to the Ghanaian palace under two separate three-year contracts.

Museums in the UK are under increasing pressure to repatriate items taken during the colonial era to their countries of origin. Both Ethiopia, Nigeria, and even Greece have requested the return of ceremonial artifacts looted by Britain. In July of last year, Oxford University proposed compensation to Maasai families in Kenya and Tanzania, offering 196 cows as restitution for artifacts that were stolen and taken to the UK over a century ago.

🇬🇧Anglican Church Takes Stand Against Shell and BP

The Church Pensions Board in the UK has announced its intention to divest from oil and gas assets, targeting major consumers of fossil fuels such as airlines, utilities, steel companies, and banks involved in fossil fuel development.

Managing approximately £3.2 billion ($4.1 billion), the Church of England disclosed plans to sell its stake in Shell, signaling a complete departure from the oil and gas sector. This decision aligns with the Church's ongoing efforts to promote decarbonization in accordance with the Paris Agreement's objectives. Additionally, the investment fund's board has recently offloaded shares in BP and at least nine other oil companies.

This strategic shift follows a period of reassessment, prompting the Church to exit the oil industry after five years of engagement and negotiation regarding energy transition.

Looking ahead, Volkswagen, Renault, National Grid, BMW, Toyota Motor, and Mercedes-Benz Group are slated to be the next targets for divestment by the Church. This divestment extends beyond the automotive sector, encompassing utility providers, steel manufacturers, and financial institutions. The Church's Pensions Board emphasized that banks still have a considerable distance to traverse in aiding the world's journey toward achieving zero emissions.

This is how absolutely determined to stamp out all dissent the labour party leaders are. This points to a bigger issue as well which is how that holocaust memorial day is, in reality, not about remembering anything at all. The millions of Soviet citizens murdered by bullet, bomb, enslavement or starvation aren't part of this commemoration nor are the hundreds of thousands of Yugoslavs nor are the hundreds of thousands of partisans who were all murdered relentlessly by the fascists. They are all ruled out. Why? Because if we start talking about how the Nazis prioritised the physical annihilation of Communists over and above everything else then people may draw a comparison to events like Indonesia in 1965 or the murder of 3 millions Koreans or a the slaughter of 1 millions Algerians because all of those crimes start to look pretty similar to the holocaust by bullet carried out by the Nazis. How about the millions starved to death by Nazism? Well the ruling class don't want to invite those comparisons either because the British imperialists were responsible for the starvation millions of Bengalis right in the middle of WW2 and countless other famines before that. What has to be erased from the official holocaust remembrance narrative is anything that could connect Nazism to imperialism. The Nazis have to be presented as a unique and solely German evil in order no to reveal the truth which is that they were the most extreme manifestation of all the destructive, violent horrors brought upon the world by imperialism up to and including the slaughter in Gaza. In order to do this the imperialists must present a version of history that is little better than a bad cartoon and anyone who offers even the slightest criticism is silenced.

French farmer vows to "starve Paris"

A tractor blockade established at eight points around Paris is intended to "starve Parisians", a French farmer has claimed.

We are holding a siege in Chartres, one hour away from Paris. It’s part of the blockade... the goal is to put pressure on the government. Blockading Paris will happen naturally. Parisians are going to be hungry. The goal is to starve Parisians. That's it.

In the event of major disruption, Paris would only have three days' food supplies, as deliveries are made every day, according to government agency Ademe.

It has become the norm that people in large cities never think about food. You go to the nearest supermarket, buy what you want, bring it home and eat way more than you need to keep your dopamine flowing. Parisians are maybe about to find out what 99.9% of our history was like. I say "maybe" because I doubt it'll come to that. Either the government caves in or the police will get involved.
