In a dark twist to Egypt's football history, today marks the 12th anniversary of the Port Said Stadium massacre, an event some believe was a punitive act against fans for their role in the protests against Hosni Mubarak.
On this tragic day, 74 supporters were mercilessly killed following a match against the Al Masry team. The chaos erupted as Al Masry fans, wielding stones, knives, and fireworks, launched a vicious attack on the Al Ahly supporters. Compounding the horror, the police refused to open the stadium gates, trapping the victims inside, leading to speculation that this act of violence was more than a spontaneous riot, possibly a calculated retribution orchestrated or condoned by military forces.
The Ultras phenomenon in Egypt began in 2007 with the formation of the first fan association for the Al Ahly club. The Ultras were known for their confrontations with Egyptian police, who often treated them violently, subjecting them to humiliating searches and harassment during stadium entries. Eventually, in May 2015, the Egyptian Court ordered the dismantling of the Ultras, a nationwide network of devoted soccer fans, banning all their activities both inside and outside football stadiums.
Although Ultras Ahlawy no longer exists as an organized domestic force, their presence endures in the matches that Al Ahly plays outside of Egypt. Notably, the FIFA Club World Cup tournament has provided a platform for them to convey their message to a broader audience and continue the spirit of this hardcore fan group.

🇨🇳 China has entered into visa-free agreements with 157 countries
China has agreed to simplify the procedures for obtaining visas with another 44 countries, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a briefing.
“China’s circle of friends with visa-free entry is constantly expanding, and more and more countries are officially entering the ‘visa-free era’ (免签时代),” Wang emphasized.
Agreements on complete mutual exemption from visas have been signed with 23 countries, including Thailand , Singapore, Maldives, and the UAE. Russians can visit China without a visa only as part of tourist groups. #tourism #visafree

European solar panel producers are calling for urgent curbs on Chinese access to the EU photovoltaic (PV) market to save their industry.
In a letter sent to the European Commission, a group representing “nearly the entire European PV manufacturing industry” called for “emergency measures” to safeguard the EU supply chain amid “significant oversupply” from China.
It claimed that oversupply of PV modules from China late in 2022 and through 2023 had “triggered a drastic reduction in prices”, forcing European manufacturers to reduce production and leaving stocks “languishing” in warehouses.

The existing “bifurcated economy” in the West favors the rich but not ordinary wage earners, US economist and former Wall Street analyst Michael Hudson said during a Sputnik Radio marathon today.
“There is talk now in both Europe and America, ‘is America a failed economy? is Europe a failed economy?’ That’s really what we should be talking about, not simply whether the economy is growing or not,” Hudson suggested.

William "Big Bill" Haywood, born in 1869, co-founded the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) and was a key figure in the Socialist Party of America.
Haywood advocated industrial unionism, led strikes like the Lawrence Textile Strike and believed in racial solidarity amongst workers.
In 1917, arrested for espionage, he fled to the Soviet Union, serving as a labor advisor to Vladimir Lenin until his death.

A little about cast iron. It is obtained from iron ore raw materials in blast furnaces. These are huge vertical structures, behind the thick walls of which the melting process takes place.
For example, at the Cherepovets Metallurgical Plant there are four of them, including the largest blast furnace in Europe, Severyanka. In the photographs of Mikhail Shor 👆 you see her younger sister “Cherepovchanka”.
Severyanka consumes 360 wagons of iron ore raw materials per day and 60-80 wagons of coke.
More interesting numbers:
🔥 combustion temperature in the oven can reach 2,200 degrees;
🔥 cast iron temperature – 1450 - 1500 degrees;
🔥 record daily cast iron production in Severyanka - about 14 thousand tons.
Cast iron is formed as a result of reduction processes occurring in the blast furnace. It goes through special chutes either to mixer trucks and then to converter steel production. Or to a 100-ton cast iron ladle and to the electric steel shop.
