Believing that that day is approaching, the Socialist Party of Ireland seeks to prepare for it by laying now the foundations of that socialist movement, whose duty it will be to guide and direct the efforts of labour in Ireland, to find and fashion a proper channel of expression and instrument of emancipation.
That labour movement of the future, as well as the socialist movement of today must, indeed, draw inspiration from the successes of our comrades abroad, but must also shape its course to suit the conditions within our own shores.
The Socialist Party of Ireland recognises and most enthusiastically endorses the principle of internationalism, but it realises that that principle must be sought through the medium of universal brotherhood rather than by self-extinction of distinct nations within the political maw of over-grown Empires.
When once all the socialists in Ireland recognise this principle, and unite with us, they will have cause to wonder at the readiness with which the workers of Ireland will respond to the socialist appeal.
If all the socialists in Ireland who waste their time in cursing the unprogressiveness of the Irish workers, had only sufficient moral courage to declare themselves, they would be astonished at the multitude of their numbers, and would then realise that they were strong enough to ensure respect and toleration.
Until they do, we will be compelled to see Irish Tory employers hiding their sweatshops behind orange flags, and Irish home rule landlords using the green sunburst of Erin to cloak their rackrenting in the festering slums of our Irish towns.

The making of the (English) working class is a fact of political and cultural, as much as of economic, history. It was not the spontaneous generation of the factory-system. Nor should we think of an external force the "industrial revolution" working upon some nondenoscript undifferentiated raw material of humanity, and turning it out at the other end as a "fresh race of beings". The changing productive relations and working conditions of the Industrial Revolution were imposed, not upon raw material, but upon the free-born Englishman and the free-born Englishman as Paine had left him or as the Methodists had moulded him. The factory hand or stockinger was also the inheritor of Bunyan, of remembered village rights, of notions of equality before the law, of craft traditions. He was the object of massive religious indoctrination and the creator of new political traditions. The working class made itself as much as it was made.

🇺🇸🗓THIS DAY IN HISTORY🕐📚
On this day, April 9th, 1952, the steel strike, organized by the United Steelworkers of America against U.S. Steel and nine other steel manufacturers, was set to commence. However, just hours before the workers were to walk out, US President Harry Truman nationalized the American steel industry. Subsequently, the steel companies filed a lawsuit to regain control of their operations.
On June 2, 1952, the US Supreme Court declared that the President did not possess the authority to seize the steel mills. The strike, involving approximately 560,000 workers, aimed to secure a wage increase. Lasting for 53 days, the strike concluded on July 24, 1952, essentially on the same terms proposed by the union four months earlier.

The USA continues to pass bills that help Israel or send arms and money, because Israel is an essential part of their dominance. Just as IMF is used for economic domination, the west needs these proxy states like Israel, Taiwan, Singapore to act on their behalf in their regions.
Don't expect the USA or the UK to act any differently as Israel is seen as a vital cog in western imperialism.

Smoke and Mirrors in Palestine
Workers should reject imperialism in all its forms! As an ardent anti-imperialist, as any working-class man should be, I have been following the Palestinian struggle against the Israeli occupiers. …
When we wrote this article the atrocities in Palestine were already horrific, but since then we have seen an upscale in what Israel is prepared to do and what the world allows it to get away with.
Around the time of this article Israel bombed a hospital. First they blamed it on Hamas and then they called it a mistake. No repercussions befell Israel and since then approximately 24 hospitals have had the same treatment.
The impunity Israel receives allows it to commit this genocide.
