🏴❌🇮🇱 — Israel accuses ISIS of attacking its forces in southern Syria

In a significant development, and amid ongoing security tensions, the Israeli military's Northern Command concluded from initial investigations that ISIS terrorists were behind the heavy fire on its forces in southern Syria, according to Asharq Al-Awsat

The Israeli army considered this development a new reality that marks a shift in the challenges in this region and necessitates a change in operational methods.

The shooting incident occurred on Tuesday morning when an Israeli military unit, known as the "Desert Battalions," was conducting a routine patrol in an area controlled by Israel in southern Syria.

The unit came under heavy fire from gunmen positioned near the village of Koya, according to media reports.

Following the attack, the Israeli military command announced strict security measures in the area.

It decided to reinforce its military presence along the Syrian border, intensify surveillance in the southern Golan region, and work on constructing a new border barrier extending east of the Golan to strengthen control over the area.

The Israeli military command viewed this region as one of the most complex border areas due to its difficult terrain, which includes hills and deep valleys, making surveillance and tracking potential threats more challenging. Israel also affirmed that it would continue to develop modern technologies, such as electronic barriers, to enhance border security.
