Prior to last June’s strikes against nuclear sites in Iran, similar movements by aerial-refueling tankers and other logistics assets with the U.S. Air Force were seen being transferred from bases in the United States towards Europe and the Middle East.

President Donald J. Trump appears to confuse Greenland with Iceland while speaking earlier in front of the World Economic Forum, with him stating, “I don't know that they'd [NATO] be there for us. They're not there for us on Iceland, that I can tell you. I mean, our stock market took the first dip yesterday because of Iceland. So Iceland's already cost us a lot of money. But that dip is peanuts compared to what it's gone up.”

Trump continues to confuse Iceland for Greenland while talking about NATO in front of the World Economic Forum: “In Europe, I'm helping NATO, and I've, until the last few days when I told them about Iceland, they loved me. They called me daddy, right, the last time. A very smart man said, he's our daddy. He's running it. I was like running it. I went from running it to being a terrible human being.”

The Pentagon has issued prepare-to-deploy orders to several hundred active-duty military police soldiers with the U.S. Army 16th Military Police Brigade stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, part of the XVIII Airborne Corps, in preparation for the possible mobilization of military forces to Minneapolis, Minnesota, sources have told MS NOW.

Orders sent yesterday to the 16th Military Police Brigade are in addition to prepare-to-deploy orders that were sent out last Friday by the Defense Department to two battalions, roughly 1,000 soldiers, with the Army’s 11th Airborne Division at Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson in Alaska, also in preparation for deployment to Minneapolis, where protests are continuing following the recent shooting of a woman by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Speaking at tonight’s CEO Reception and Dinner for the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, President Donald J. Trump stated: “We had a good speech. We got great reviews. I can't believe it. We got good reviews in that speech. Usually they say, ‘he's a horrible dictator type person.’ I'm a dictator. But sometimes you need a dictator. But they didn't say that in this case. And no, it's common sense. It's all based on common sense. It's not conservative or liberal or anything else. It's mostly, let's say, 95% common sense.”

Finnish President Alexander Stubb: “First is a direct answer to the question of this panel: Can Europe defend itself? My answer is unequivocally yes. Without the Americans? Without the Americans. But you're relying on them for these key elements. How would you do it at scale and at duration and at intensity? With an assumption that the United States would cut off completely any kind of work. Well, if we look at the defense composure of Europe by and large, and a country like Finland, we have connoscription. One million have done it. We can mobilize 280,000 soldiers within weeks. We have 62 F-18s. Your next question is going to be, do they fly without Americans? No, they don't. But do we trust that they will continue to fly because it's in the interest of America to do so? Yes. We just bought 64 F-35s. We have the biggest artillery in Europe together with Poland. We have long-range missiles, land, sea, and air. We have these because we're worried about Stockholm, right? So the bottom line is that if you ask me the question can the Finnish military defend itself against a Russian attack, the whole defense posture of the way in which you do it, yes, we can.”
