The French territory of Mayotte has been hit with a cyclone in the past 24 hours. The strong storm, called Cyclone Chido, struck the French archipelago last night and so far 11 have been confirmed dead as a result of the storm. Worse still, the death toll has been estimated to be in the hundreds, as makeshift living spaces and communities have been decimated all across the islands. These makeshift communities are also inhabited by Mayotte’s significant illegal population, that numbers somewhere around 100,000. The French Interior Ministry has said that it’s still too early to accurately assess the full extent of the damage.

Syrian State Media is reporting that the Syrian Embassy in Washington, D.C. is set to reopen on Monday, after being Closed by the Obama Administration in 2014 due to Atrocities committed by the Assad Regime.

Some additional details on the incident between a German military helicopter and a Russian naval vessel in the Baltic Sea earlier this month. According to the Wall Street Journal, on November 26, the German Frigate Nordrhein-Westfalen (F223), while patrolling out of a port in Poland, was shadowing a Russian missile corvette, the Merkuriy (535), when it launched its Sea Lynx or NH-90 (conflicting reports) helicopter to closely surveil the vessel as it escorted an oil tanker that may have been in violation of sanctions on Russian oil sales. In response, the missile corvette fired off a number of flares, causing the helicopter to turn away. As mentioned before, the incident was first mentioned by German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock during a NATO Foreign Ministers Ministerial in Brussels, Belgium.
