They state that the decision is due to concerns that Hamas will use the “Philadelphi Corridor” to smuggled Weapons into Gaza from Egypt, with an Official saying, “We will not leave the Philadelphi Corridor. We will not allow the Hamas murderers to again roam our borders with pickup trucks and guns, and we will not allow them to rearm through smuggling.”

A Flight of U.S. Air Force B-52H Long-Range Strategic Bombers appear to be on their way to the Middle East from RAF Fairford, but are taking an “Unusual Route” not normally seen. Instead of passing over France and the Mediterranean like most B-52 Flights from the U.K. to the Middle East, this Flight flew over Germany and Poland, before now passing over Turkey.

The B-52s appear to be returning now to RAF Fairford, after orbiting for a while near the City of Konya in Central Turkey.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) today begun the mass firing of hundreds of federal employees under the agency and its several child agencies, including the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) and the National Weather Service (NWS), which has already been suffering from low-staffing over the last few years. The cuts are expected to effect up to 1,830 of NOAA’s 11,000 staff across the United States, roughly 10% of the agencies employees; with a push by NOAA to obtain a “public safety exemption” for meteorologists and forecasters with the NWS being largely denied. It is not currently known if these cuts will include those in the NOAA Commissioned Officer Corps, one of the eight federal uniformed services of the United States.

According to a release from the Social Security Administration (SSA), Voluntary Early Retirement (VERA) “is now available to employees in all components and positions, with no exclusions.” The release announced a major reorganization of the SSA that will include a significant reduction in the workforce. While the release claims to preserve mission-critical positions, past moves in other departments and administrations have conducted layoffs and firings seemingly without keeping this in mind.

Hung served in the U.S. Navy for 25 years and deployed to a number of theaters as an Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Navy Special Operations Officer.
