On March 23rd, as Israeli ground forces were advancing on the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, they ambushed a clearly-marked convoy of emergency vehicles operated by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS), including several ambulances and a fire truck. During the attack, 14 paramedics and a U.N. staffer were killed, before Israeli forces buried their bodies as well as the destroyed vehicles in as mass grave near Rafah. Despite the Israel Defense Force attempting to justify the attack in a statement following the incident, by claiming that, “Uncoordinated vehicles were identified advancing suspiciously toward IDF troops without headlights or emergency signals,” video footage recovered from the phone of one of the killed paramedics shows that most if not all of the vehicles were in an organized convoy with their emergency lights on. This is a clear war crime and an investigation needs to be launched immediately by the IDF.

10 rockets were fired earlier from the northern Gaza Strip by Hamas towards the city of Ashdod in southern Israel. According to the Israel Defense Force, most of the rockets were intercepted by the “Iron Dome” with others falling in and around Ashkelon. So far there have been no reports of casualties as a result of the rocket impacts.
