Yesterday morning the ignition module in the brand assed new Pertronix distributor took a shit on me rolling 60mph in the middle of rush hour traffic! Cruising along just fine and then it was like I reached down and shut the truck off..... So I finally dodged enough traffic to get it rolled over to the side and called AAA for a tow, needless to say the the AAA membership with the 3-4 free tows has more than paid for itself over the years.
Anyway got the truck home safely and luckily the distributor was still under warranty so they're going to swap me out. Atleast I've still got the Mercury (the car that set in a field for 9 years) that's running.

Crunch time trying to get everything cleaned up and painted so I can get the Van back together while the truck is down.

The king pin bushings hung me up, I don't have a press and didn't want to destroy them trying to beat them in.
I'll have to take them to work tomorrow and press them in there...

Drove the Van to work this morning with 0 issues, hopefully I can get it in the alignment shop at lunch and get the front end aligned.
I think I figured out why my Pertronix burned out, I have a constant 12v Relay coming in to test this!

"Important stuff to know:

The ignitor is an on off switch. To work properly, it needs to switch from one mode to the other very quickly. If it supplied with too low a voltage, the switching process is much slower. During the period where the switch is not completely on or off, it has to dissipate the power being fed into it in the form of heat. Eventually that excess heat damages the internal components and the Pertronix will fail. It doesn't happen quickly, but it will happen eventually.

There are three versions of the Pertronix Ignitor. The original Ignitor 1 does a great job at a reasonable price. It has one limitation. If you leave the ignition switch turned on with the engine not running, it will damage the Ignitor 1. The Ignitor 2 is our recommendation. It won't fail if you leave the ignition switch on, and it automatically adjusts the dwell to match engine RPM for a hotter spark. The Ignitor 3 adds multi spark and a built in adjustable rev limiter."

Got the Pertronix relay installed so I should avoid any further issues.
Swapped a new tailgate onto Larry's El Camino last night.
