Just heard in our local area that there's a "Proposition G" in the San Francisco ballot.

It made me feel like laughing and crying at the same time. 😂😭🤷‍♀️

A ballot measure petitioning to give SF public school 8th graders the option to take "Algebra 1".

"huh??"

Apparently, in the name of "equity" - the SF Unifed School District system thinks Algebra 1 should NOT be permitted for 8th graders! 😬😂🤣

Because it could make the other kids feel bad!

Well, the paradox is... this could actually be a really good thing. The more this factory-style public school system feels unbearably stifling to the masses, the more it'll create the momentum for moms, dads, educators to finally walk away and offer better alternative solutions that benefit the whole community.

In Chinese Medicine, we say extreme Yin generates Yang. Extreme Yang generates Yin.

Extreme absurdity can generate sanity!

Truth is, this ballot measure and the parents who are "fighting to get Algebra 1 to their 8th graders" is missing the mark on soooo many levels. A giant waste of energy. There are already 1000s of other things that they could bring to middle-school aged kids to nurture their gifts, talents, and genius which they don't.

Why is this one a big deal? How is this any different from the other 1000s of beneficial possibilities that they DON'T offer to 8th graders?

Afterall, it's a one-size-fits-all factory model. We are allowing government bureaucrats and total strangers to dictate our kids' education. Why the fuss about this one thing - when there are 1000s others?

Also in the homeschooling/unschooling communities, kids routinely blast thru years of math in a matter of months. This whole "fighting" to bring 9th grade math to 8th grade... feels truly much ado about nothing.

I am hopeful that people will see past these layers of absurdity with "Proposition G" - to realizing the more fundamental absurdity -- letting the government raise/educate our kids.

Meanwhile, tons of beautiful alternative education solutions are popping up left and right now. Project-based learning. Self-directed education. Various styles of microschools. So much good stuff! I'm excited for many more moms, dads, educators to walk away and channel their energy/resources into these beautiful new solutions.

The old system is collapsing rapidly.

The more beautiful reality is rising and gaining momentum fast right now. 🌺🎉🕺

The experience was beyond all expectations.

Avalanches of tears of pure love, cleaning up, clearing up. Shining the light of awareness on huge blindspots that were limiting possibilities before. Lifetimes of work. Intense discomforts, massive stretching of limits, and blessings upon blessings.
