🇬🇪🛢🇦🇿 Huge gas project: Georgia has returned to the development of a project to build an LNG terminal.
Economy Minister Davitashvili said that the unfreezing of the project was the main topic of the recent visit of Azerbaijani President Aliyev to Tbilisi. According to a Georgian official: “The Georgian authorities, in partnership with Azerbaijan, have begun developing a project to build a terminal for liquefied natural gas (LNG) for its subsequent export to the EU countries, the implementation of which was frozen in 2015. Georgia and Azerbaijan, together with Romania and Hungary, began discussing the terminal 7 years ago. The project involved the supply of gas from the Caspian Sea to Europe through Georgia, so the gas will be transformed into a liquid state on the territory of Georgia, and then gasified in Romania. Unfortunately, this project was stopped and had no further development. However, due to the current processes when Europe is particularly interested in alternative sources of gas supply, when everyone is talking about diversifying the energy supply, it has gained particular relevance and meetings of working groups have already begun.”
ℹ️ From the Georgian side, the oil and gas corporation is participating in the project, the Azerbaijani side is represented by the state oil company SOCAR. Azerbaijan and Georgia will be able to solve the issue with the expansion and construction of the missing sections of gas pipelines quite quickly, so it is expected that the project will be launched soon.

😢 In the city of Terzhola (Imereti), a man with particular cruelty killed his ex-wife, two minor children lost their mother.
Late in the evening, he came to her work in the Magniti store, doused her with gasoline and set her on fire. Then he ran out and closed the door to the building. The attacker himself received burns on about 70% of his body and is now in the hospital under police supervision. Several employees who wanted to help the woman were injured. According to preliminary information, the man was previously convicted and a restraining order was issued against him.
ℹ️ Since the beginning of the year, 20 women have already been killed in Georgia. Half the time, the killers were their partners or husbands. Many crimes were committed in public and in front of children.
❗️Domestic violence is in the TOP-3 according to crime statistics in Georgia

👶 A 12-year-old girl gave birth in a Tbilisi University clinic.
The operation was successful, the child and mother feel good, their lives are not in danger. The girl was taken to the hospital by ambulance from Rustavi. The gestational age was 35 weeks.
👮🏻♂️ The police opened a criminal case. According to preliminary data, the father of the child is a 16-year-old teenager. The girl's family demanded a trial in the case.
ℹ️ Between 2018 and 2022, there were 2,564 births and 454 abortions among minors in the country. Experts suggest that the actual number of abortions could be much higher.

➡️🇪🇺🇬🇪 The EU countries will discuss and give an answer on granting Georgia the status of an EU candidate only at the end of 2023 (or they will postpone this decision again).
It all depends on the implementation of the recommendations necessary to obtain the status. This was announced by EU Ambassador in Georgia Pavel Gerchinsky.
"We are following this process very closely (the implementation of 12 recommendations). There is still time, because according to the calendar we will evaluate the implementation of the recommendations in the spring of next year. The formal opinion of the European Commission is expected in October, and only after that our leaders will discuss progress of Georgia and other countries wishing to become EU members," the diplomat said.

🍊Preparation of dried persimmon in Georgia.
Traditionally, this fruit decorates houses in different parts of the country in autumn. Most often, fruit garlands can be found in Imereti. They are hung in a well-ventilated place - on balconies and verandas. For drying, it is very important to use the “correct” persimmon. Be sure to choose firm fruits, with light flesh and with a stalk. The best variety is "korolyok" or "sharon". But the so-called "tomato persimmon" ("ox heart"), "honey" or "marmalade", unfortunately, are not suitable. They are too soft, crumble, and can become moldy when dried.
ℹ️ In Georgia, dried persimmon is often called “chiri”. This is a popular sweet snack that is served on the New Year's table, because dried fruits retain all the beneficial qualities of fresh berries.

👩👧👦❤️🩹 On the evening of November 25, an action dedicated to the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was held in Tbilisi.
About a thousand people attended the procession and rally. Among the participants were Georgian human rights organizations, opposition movements and local residents. They demanded legislative changes that could protect women, including the definition of rape and the concept of consent (in Georgia, only cases when it is accompanied by another form of violence are considered rape, and sex without consent is not considered a crime under the law).
"No means no!" the crowd chanted.
Different stories were heard at the rally: about the difficulties in achieving justice in family disputes, about the traditionally biased attitude towards girls, about the difficulties in protecting the rights of mother and child.
ℹ️ Despite the fact that the Georgian government has toughened the punishment for gender issues, the state leadership is concerned about this issue, since according to statistics, 186 women have been killed in the last eight years.
