🇬🇪❗️🇫🇷 Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili turned to French President Emanuel Macron for help and support.
According to Le Monde, the politician wrote a letter and attached the results of a five-page toxicological examination (available to the editors), which claims that he was poisoned.
“All my life I fought for freedom and reforms in Georgia and Ukraine, opposed the imperialist policy of Russia. Putin considers me one of his main enemies. He publicly promised to kill me. Now I am in prison, as one of his personal prisoners. I'm dying, I don't have much time." - Georgian ex-president wrote in a letter to Macron and the French people.

📈🏦 Income tax for Georgian banks will increase from 15% to 20%.
Banks and the financial sector will not switch to the so-called Estonian income tax model (bonuses when reinvesting in a business). For them, the existing income tax system will be retained, but the rate will be increased from 15% to 20%. This was stated by Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili. He explained that the net profit of banks by the end of the year will amount to 2 billion lari. And it is unjust that they pay inadequately little to the budget.

🎅🏼🎄Chichilaki (Georgian ჩიჩილაკი) is a traditional New Year symbol and decoration in Georgia.
There are different sizes, from small 10-20 cm to meter. Real chichilaki is most often made from a hazel branch, which is sequentially planed from one end, leaving thin shavings to stick to the other end. The result is a stick with a lush chip crown (beard "Didi Basili" - St. Basil), which is chichilaki. They can be decorated with berries, leaves, flowers, and a coin is often fixed at the top. They are burned the day before Baptism of the Lord. It is believed that the ashes carry away all the bad.
❤️ Here is such a peculiar analogue of the New Year tree in Georgia, although the spruce or its branches (bazaars will open in the coming days throughout the country) are still often present in Georgian homes on days when everyone is waiting for the arrival of Tovlis Papa or Tovlis Babua (Snow Grandfather) . That's not all - I'll talk about bedoba and mekvle in the next posts.

🇪🇺 The EU agreed on the non-recognition of passports issued in the occupied territories of Ukraine and Georgia.
We are talking about territories controlled by Russia: they include both Crimea, annexed in 2014, and the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, as well as Abkhazia and South Ossetia, whose independence was recognized by only a few countries of the world. Travel documents issued in these territories will not be recognized in the European Union.
❗️Georgia also does not recognize such passports (including Russian-Crimean ones) and in 99% of cases their holders are not allowed into the country.

❗️The approach to service in the Georgian army can be changed.
This was stated by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili. In particular, the approach to the service for students who will be sent to the barracks for 1 month a year for 4 years will be revised. He paid special attention to the Girchi party and its project of alternative clergy: “This is an abomination. The biggest evil that Zurab Japaridze committed against the youth of the country. This legal loophole will be eliminated. We will no longer allow these wreckers to mislead our young generation.” Separately, he added that he had already discussed this issue with the patriarchy.
ℹ️ There is a "Christian Evangelical Protestant Church of Biblical Freedom" in the country, created several years ago by the opposition Girchi party to help young men avoid military service by registering them as priests. Under Georgian law, clergy and students in theological schools are exempt from compulsory military service.
🆗 The Girchi party has already responded to the Prime Minister’s statement, saying that “Compulsory military service is an outdated, inefficient and financially costly system that has nothing to do with the defense and security of the country and should consist of motivated and interested people, not of the people under duress ".
