📆Tashkent, September 20, 2021:
American Councils is partnering with George Mason University and the Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages International Association (TESOL) in order to facilitate two one-week Training-of-Trainers (TOT) Programs for selected ESN Core Trainers and Regional Peer Mentors. More than two hundred participants: CTs and most qualified RPM teachers have been selected to take part in the TOT training.

During the training, participants will learn about the 6 Principles for Exemplary Teaching of English Learners, integrate the lessons learnt from the Teaching English Through English (TETE) course, engage in group workshop planning, and learn how to plan the trainings for the cascading process within the ESN: STT Program. Two one-week TOT trainings will be delivered by 7 TESOL instructors and 4 GMU Instructors together with seven American Coaches from the ESN: Coaches Program in Tashkent.

On Saturday October 2, 2021 American Councils finished conducting two one-week Training-of-Trainers (TOT) Programs in partnership with the George Mason University and the Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages International Association (TESOL).

Closing ceremony was held at Daniel Hill Hotel in Tashkent with the press conference and the coffee break that provided the networking opportunity for participants.
American Councils Country Director William O'Roark, Cultural Affairs Officer of the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent Sarah Talalay, Advisor to the Minister for International Donors & Grants, Ministry of Public Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ulugbek Kasimkhodjaev have taken part in the ceremony.

During the training, participants learnt about the 6 Principles for Exemplary Teaching of English Learners, integrated the lessons learnt from the Teaching English Through English (TETE) course, engaged in group workshop planning, and learnt how to plan the trainings for the cascading process.

On October 18, 2021 American Councils has started the TESOL Course Certificate Program for 70 participants of the ESN Program.

The TCCP training events are coordinated by American Councils for International Education and delivered by 4 TESOL coaches.

Following the October TCCP Program, more RPMs are expected to take the certification program throughout November and December of 2021. Within the scope of the ESN: STT, 307 RPMs are expected to go through the TESOL certification program.

Between September 20th and October 2nd, American Councils organized two one-week Training-of-Trainers (TOT) Programs for more than 200 selected ESN Core Trainers and Regional Peer Mentors.

During the training, participants have learnt about the 6 Principles for Exemplary Teaching of English Learners, integrated the lessons learnt from the Teaching English Through English (TETE) course, engaged in group workshop planning, and learnt how to plan the training for the cascading process within the ESN: STT Program. Seven TESOL instructors, four GMU instructors and seven U. S. Coaches delivered two one-week ToT training.
ToT training participants will train and mentor 10 to 12 Regional Peer Mentor-Teachers (RPMs), based on the content learned during the training.
On November 22, 2021 American Councils has started the last TESOL Course Certificate Program for 53 secondary school teachers of English from various regions of Uzbekistan, including Surkhandarya, Samarkand, Navoi, Bukhara, Khorezm, Andijan, Fergana, Namangan, Sirdarya, Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, and Karakalpakstan.

This TCCP training event is coordinated by American Councils for International Education and delivered by 2 TESOL Coaches. Up to this day, ESN program conducted 10 TCCP courses between June and November, 2021.

Upon successful completion of 120-hour in-person TCCP in Tashkent, the teachers will embark on a 20-hour in-classroom practicum requirement. Within the scope of the ESN program, up to 400 secondary school teachers throughout Uzbekistan are completing their TCCP requirements and will receive their TESOL certification, an internationally recognized teaching credential.

English language teaching (ELT) professionals from around the world are invited to participate in person in the TESOL 2022 Regional Conference in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, 13-16 June 2022!

The conference will bring together approximately 600 ELT professionals to share best practices and current research specifically relevant to ELT and English as an international language capacity building in contexts with inconsistent access to technology and English-speaking environments. Professionals should consider ELT innovations in the advancement of learner-centered, communicative English instruction; digital and multiliteracies; and ELT professionalism within a Central Asian context.
