Nel 1874, poche ore dopo aver presentato alla Geographical Society un rapporto sulle formazioni glaciali molto apprezzato, fu arrestato e accusato di attività sovversiva. Il racconto che segue, proveniente dalle sue memorie e da altri documenti storici, descrive la sua evasione, due anni dopo, da una prigione di San Pietroburgo.

16 września 2022 roku policja Patrolu Przewodniczego (ang. Guidance Patrol, pers. گشت ارشاد, gašt-e eršād) w Teheranie zamordowała 22-letnią kobietę; rzekomo nie nosiła ona hidżabu zgodnie z polityką państwa irańskiego. W odpowiedzi na morderstwo, ludzie w całym Iranie wyszli na ulice na prawie dwa tygodnie, stawiając czoła policji i tworząc przestrzenie wolności. Wiele osób nabiera poczucia, że rozpoczęła się rewolucja.
Współpraca z Collective 98, antykapitalistyczną i antyautorytarną grupą skupioną na walkach w Iranie, pozwoliła nam przeprowadzić wywiady z irańskimi i kurdyjskimi feministkami na temat bieżącej sytuacji. W poniższym tekście badają one historyczne znaczenie tej fali buntu i sił, które wprawiły ją w ruch.

El 16 de septiembre de 2022, la policía de la Patrulla de Orientación en Teherán asesinó a una mujer de 22 años; supuestamente, ella no estaba usando el hiyab de acuerdo con la política estatal iraní. En respuesta, personas de todo Irán han salido a las calles durante casi dos semanas, enfrentándose a la policía y abriendo espacios de libertad ingobernable. Para muchos en Irán, parece que está en marcha un proceso revolucionario.
En colaboración con el Colectivo 98, un grupo anticapitalista y antiautoritario centrado en las luchas en Irán, pudimos entrevistar a feministas iraníes y kurdas sobre la situación. En el siguiente texto, exploran el significado histórico de esta ola de rebelión y las fuerzas que la desencadenaron.

Dne 12. září 2022 smrtelně zranila policejní hlídka v Teheránu 22letou ženu; údajně na sobě neměla hidžáb v souladu s íránskou státní politikou. V reakci na to vyšli do ulic lidé po celém Íránu, kde se postavili policii a otevřeli prostor neomezené svobody. Mnohým obyvatelům Íránu se zdá, že to, čeho jsou svědky, je opravdový revoluční proces.
Ve spolupráci s antikapitalistickou a antiautoritářskou skupinou Collective 98, která se zaměřuje na boje v Íránu, se podařilo probrat situaci s íránskými a kurdskými feministkami. V následujícím textu se zabývají historickým významem této vlny povstání a silami, které ji uvedly do pohybu.
