Статья про прогрессив-рок - про композиции группы Yes. Кажется, автор применяет transformational theory для объяснения, как внутри трэка меняются гаммы (scales). У меня есть умеренный скептицизм к transformational theory, так что наша задача - понять, нам втюхивают эзотерику или нет.
Перед лекцией советую послушать композиции, которые упомянуты справа в Examples - особенно "And You and I" и "Roundabout". Проще разбирать то, что уже в вас сидит.

Stoicism has three main tenets on which CBT was built and that is Logic, Acceptance and Control. It was discovered that despite the inuence of the stoics in curtailing human disorder, there is an incompatibility between a philosophy which is for life, and a therapy which is for a particular disorder.
2. An overview of formal methods (talk)
Virtually every Software Developer heard about Formal Verification, but not that many actually did it. That's why not everyone has a good idea what it is, what it does, what sorts there are, who and where apply it, and why. I'll try to paint an overall picture of the field without digging into too much detail. Hopefully enough to dismiss common misconceptions and provide waymarks for further exploration.

Хочу поговорить про то, в каком порядке идут аккорды в классическом джазе. Поговорить про септаккорды вообще, про ii-V-I, про модуляцию на два полутона вниз, про цепочки доминант, мб про регармонизацию. Будет зубодробительно. Пререквизит: знать, какие ноты входят в септаккорд C7.
Как правильно описывать джазовую гармонию? Есть ли в джазовом стандарте глобальная тональность? Можно ли всё описать вероятностями пар соседних аккордов? Что такое теория лего-блоков, и помогает ли она? Есть ли у стандарта "самые правильные" аккорды?
В худшем случае (если будет ничего непонятно), мы просто послушаем много классического джаза.

Это будет семинар по арабской традиционной музыке. Каждому участнику нужно захватить ноут или другой девайс для просмотра ютуба. Каждый выберет себе какую-нибудь композицию или парочку и попробует найти в ней макамы/джинсы, которые теоретически там должны быть, а также границы модуляций.
Есть ютуб-канал где аудио синхронизировано как с падающими нотами а-ля синтэзия, так и с западной нотацией. Также у меня есть пдф-подборы, если кому-то это удобнее.

22:00 или пораньше - начнём презентовать друг другу результаты (по очереди с проектора)

We meet biweekly to discuss advances in computer science, ground them down to applications, and see where to the wind is blowing. Read the papers at your own time and come discuss them with us. The talks will be given in English, discussion in En/Ru.

Fitness bands count numbers they call "steps", "calories", "heart rate", "stress", "sleep", "sleep phases", and so on. We posit two questions:
1. Are these numbers reliable? Do they accurately track true steps and calories?
2. If yes, how? If no, why?
3. Bonus: could we DIY our own band?
We'll base the reliability discussion on a comprehensive metaanalysis and the workings one on this PPG tech review. Also check these popsci articles for background.
