Albon reached 369km/h during the #LasVegasGP: higher than any other driver this season! (Equalling Vettel's 2019 Monza top speed in the 'godly-engined' SF90).

He reached 13194rpm in 8th gear: 257rpm more than Gasly before his engine gave out.

He later retired (3rd race in a row).

QATAR PREVIEW - A REAL TYRE-KILLER! 🔥

Very high, sustained lateral forces➡️Even the hardest compounds (C1-C3) will suffer, esp. the front left (Understeer➡️Wear➡️More Understeer➡️More Wear...)

Downforce is crucial.
Drag is secondary (helpful to battle).
Bodes well for McLaren.

Red Bull's VERY detuned engine, and not the 'cut' wing, hurt their FP2 straight-line performance the most💡

💡Wings For Qatar GP (Tyre-killer track!)

Teams opted for medium-high load wings:
-Downforce is crucial for cornering performance and to manage the tyres
-Drag is not as impactful, but if excessive it impairs ability to attack/defend

Most loaded: ⚪️Haas
Least loaded: 🔴Ferrari?

Sauber seems to be on a similar level to Haas, too.

🔥Ferrari's pace looks real!

LEC had more downforce than NOR: he gained over 0.2s from Turn 12 to 15 (the fastest ones) alone!
T14: 254km/h NOR, 269 LEC (+15).

💡Drag, however, was no higher: 🔴317km/h vs 🟠318 top speed.

Image 2):
The impact of the rear wing configuration is crazy! (Red Bull had the highest top speed, +10km/h vs Sauber, yet it was 8km/h slower than it in T6).

Time to decide: what's YOUR prediction? 🤔
11👍2🤔1
Hear this: Lando Norris got pole but his top speed was the worst! 😳

🟠McL lost time in the straights (high drag), but it was extremely quick everywhere else!

Better top speed for 🔵RedBull (+6km/h) and 🔴Ferrari (+5)... which matters less in Qatar.

🟣Alpine: a rocket, again!

FP1 LONG RUNS

Ferrari did the longest long runs and were quickest until they backed off (Lap 15).

FP1 conditions (Hotter, dirtier track) might have advantaged them: expect McL to be on the same pace!

RedBull was pushing way less (much slower and always improving lap times.

In the past few races the Hards have performed better than the Mediums after just a few laps, which might make Ferrari’s pace look slightly better than it really is.

QATAR GP - SPRINT

1) RACE PACE:
HUL was within 0 .3s/lap of NOR: that's how much NOR was limiting his pace!➡️Just 0.01s/lap within SAI/RUS/PIA.

VER sandwiched by the two Haas.

2) BEST SECTORS:
LEC got the fastest S1 and S3 (and the fastest lap), but the pace in S2 (the slow one) must be fixed.

QATAR GP - SPRINT | Top Speed per Lap:

PIA used DRS in 12 out of 19 laps, yet he was slowest than anyone else who did as well, for two reasons:
- McL had the lowest top speed in Sprint Quali too (high drag).
- Most drivers had a double (or more) slipstream!

In just 19 laps everyone except for NOR used DRS!
👍10🔥2
VER back on top! Red Bull overhauled the setup after the Sprint🔥

Fantastic race by
- LEC (P2)
- GAS (crucial WCC points, keeping behind SAI!)
- ALO (P7)
- ZHO (first Sauber points!)

Very harsh penalties + field bunched by SC➡️race over for NOR and HAM

The WCC is still open!

Crazy race: what’s your opinion?🤔
👍18❤‍🔥6
On Lap 31, VER lifted the pedal around 10% and for less than 1s - enough to prove that he obeyed the yellow flag, saving his race. 💡
His speed didn't decrease, and he lost minimal time. 👌

NOR didn't even do that, and that's why he was penalised.

RUS, LEC, and PIA did NOT lift, but by the time they approached that point on the straight the yellow flag had been temporarily removed, so they should not receive penalties.

That, at least, is my understanding of the episode.

📊RACE PACE

🥇🔵VER Quickest
🥈🟠NOR +0.15s/lap
🥉🔴LEC +0.35s/lap

Mercedes (RUS) was the 4th fastest car (+0.59s/lap, hurt by traffic), then Alpine, Aston, Sauber (!), Haas

RacingBulls slowest

Mercedes is consistently inconsistent:
-Vegas: 1-2
-Qatar: GAS quicker than HAM!

The field was quite spread out: BOT, who still finished 11th, was 2.56s/lap slower on average than VER!

The many DNFs, penalties, and Safety Cars made it easier to get into the points even when the pace was very far from the best one.

VER was cruising at the end.

Alonso's car did not deploy the ERS at the restart, and he was immediately overtaken by HAM💡

He then successfully drained the battery, but that wasn't enough to keep TSU behind (ALO lost 0.35s to him up to the braking point alone, and his speed deficit was as large as 17km/h)!

🛠ABU DHABI PREVIEW!

Very complete track: 2 long straights, several traction and strong braking zones, low/medium/high-speed corners.

The most complete package will win!

Compared to Qatar, Ferrari should be more competitive vs McL (VER likely to be in the mix).

Can Ferrari win the WCC? 🤔

🟠McL and 🔵RedBull seem more hesitant than ⚫️Mercedes and 🔴Ferrari about the right wing to use:

- NOR and PER will use a less loaded version (like Ferrari's);
- A more loaded one for PIA and VER (like Mercedes'): notice the deeper spoon and the more vertical upper plane.
