🧐ANALYSING HULK'S SUPER P4 AND VER'S OVERSTEER

HUL braked more intensely (🟡in yellow) than VER; his minimum speed was higher too (74 vs 71)
Still, he matched his top speed (329) and straight-line performance! (🟣purple arrows).

Verstappen's huge oversteer (🔴red) cost him the front row (and ~2tenths): he was ahead of HUL, SAI, and even PIA before that!

VER could brake less and later, gaining primarily in the braking points.

Haas built a beast of a car, and finally unlocked its potential in the 2nd half of the season! 👏

3-places grid drop for HULK: extremely unfortunate.
His P4 in qualifying was not due to luck he was also quickest (by far) in the FP2 long runs!

He and COL were on Softs (others on Mediums). HUL did 8 consecutive push laps, 6 tenths quicker than VER's '23 race-winning pace.🔥

Deg was under control, too: his slowest lap was still quicker than the quickest lap by any other driver (By PIA and HAM)!

That was best chance at his long-awaited first podium.

Fastest on Mediums: PIA, then HAM and NOR.

RBR and Ferrari were slower.

HAM 697 (+2)

- RUS scored more points this season, and also in 2022;
- HAM out-scored him only in 2023 (but by a big margin).

The most balanced lineup on the grid (and one of the best).

They both will have new teammates next year: Antonelli for Russell, and Leclerc for Hamilton.

Comparing the two to their new teammates will give us more information about the strength of all 4.

ANALYSIS - TSU STUCK ON GRID

Weird start: looked fine until 20km/h, but then:
-Throttle quickly dropped to 0📉
-Yet, rpm INCREASED📈
-Speed increased very slowly (transmission creep?)

TSU: "99% sure it was clutch/anti-stall"
0-100km/h in 6.5s: many BMWs would beat that!😳

“It became pretty clear that when I came into the pit lane and when I pulled the clutch, the gear didn’t go to neutral smoothly. So, something definitely going on there"

Ferrari produced their most successful F1 car since 2018 👌

The SF-24 scored 27.2 Points per GP, as the SF-71H - But the latter got one more win and fewer points were on the table! (No Sprint races)

"The flawless beast killed by updates"

Low drag, powerful engine, good race pace, and excellent downforce for 2/3 of the season.

Ferrari's Singapore updates made it SLOWER, and they had to revert specs a few races later, losing the championship.

F1-75 (2022)

"Race-monster, killed by reliability/TDs"

Best downforce on the grid (but high drag) and engine power, excellent race pace, versatile.

Suffered from reliability (the team was forced to turn down the power) and the TD039 damaged its setup window.

4 Wins, 25.2Pts/GP

SF-23 (2023)

"Low drag, but a step back elsewhere"

The car had lower drag than its predecessor, but it lost its advantage in the other areas - mainly in race pace and tyre wear.

The developments were successful, however, and it was competitive at season-end.

1 Win, 18.5Pts/GP

SF-24 (2024)

"Good balance found again"

The car continued the good development path started on the 2023 car, and further improved it in any aspects: good race pace, drag, downforce, and tyre wear.

The most successful ground-effect Ferrari: bodes well for 2025!

The reduction in floor area hurt Mercedes more than RedBull, but the starting point was so good (W11, the fastest F1 car ever produced) that it still won the WCC.

Powerful, high downforce, versatile.

W13 ('22)
"The Tractor: Draggy, Reliable, Resistant"

Massive step back for Mercedes, but still the ground-effect car which got them the most points!

Porpoising➡️Raised ride height➡️Downforce loss➡️More loaded wings➡️High drag.

Yet reliable and indestructible!

W14 ('23)
"The Test-Bed"

Massive change in-season: starting from Monaco, the team abandoned the 'zero-pod' concept in favour of a more traditional design.

This didn't solve all their problems, however (drag was still high), and Alonso stole them many points.

18.6Pts/GP, No Wins

W15 ('24)
"A New Start"

The project was 'ambitious' (James Allison), changing the concepts for aerodynamics, chassis design, and weight distribution.
Suspension design was different, too (Pull-rod➡️Push-rod).

Terrible season start, but pace improved mid-season.
