What women need to find in a good man (besides the obvious that they are not weak degenerates without personality, etc.):

1. A Catholic, interested in spiritual growth and tradition, in order to avoid modernists and liberals.

2. Family: Responsible, considers the family before himself, in order to avoid shameless and lazy people.

3. With Moderation and Fidelity, to avoid lustful people.

4. Mentality and Aptitude: Disciplined, having both a desire to excel and the desire to defend his family; this will avoid cucks and weaklings.

5. Economy: not necessarily rich, for those who are not rich can have families, but a man who has the intention and potential to maintain a family in the near future, from 1 to 2 years, to avoid unmarried relationships that are too long.

This list is the minimum, since women today tend to demand more than what is available, which can lead to mistakes; this serves to moderate that impulse.

In the end, since women have a passive, indirect role when it comes to looking for a man, they should be careful about the places they frequent, focusing on environments where they can find boys who have the traits described above, and, in addition, they have to take care of being good women, because it will be the man who will look for them in the end.

Essentially a good woman has to accept a compatible man who is capable of sacrificing for his family, for her to find a leader to follow, if the woman's father is apt and decent, he should give her the go-ahead first of all.

"True politeness is the language of a good heart, and those possessing that heart will never, under any circumstances, be rude.
They may not enter a crowded saloon gracefully; they may be entirely ignorant of the forms of good society; they may be awkward at table, ungrammatical in speech; but they will never be heard speaking so as to wound the feelings of another; they will never be seen making others uncomfortable by seeking solely for their own personal convenience; they will always endeavor to set every one around them at ease; they will be self-sacrificing, friendly, unselfish; truly in word and deed, polite.
Give to such a woman the knowledge of the forms and customs of society, teach her how best to show the gentle courtesies of life, and you have a lady, created by God, only indebted for the outward polish to the world."

"Remember, however, “once a gentleman always a gentleman,” and be sure that you can so carry out the rule, that in your most careless, joyous moments, when freest from the restraints of etiquette, you can still be recognizable as a gentleman by every act, word, or look.

Avoid too great a restraint of manner. Stiffness is not politeness, and, while you observe every rule, you may appear to heed none. To make your politeness part of yourself, inseparable from every action, is the height of gentlemanly elegance and finish of manner."

What do externals have to do with the internal?

The answer: everything and nothing.

I recently read a post discussing the perceived pitfalls with traditional Catholic modesty as typically promoted on IG. The OP’s concern is that promoting a specific way to dress - generally veiling and wearing modest dresses - can call women away from their true selves and imply that dressing a certain way is automatically holier.

Setting aside the assumptions made about others’ implied intent or motivations, which we can never truly know, I agree with her to a point. Externals have nothing to do with your internal worth, value, virtue or holiness. We can never make assumptions about anyone’s interior life based on their dress, vocation, number of children, etc. Equating holiness with these types of exterior states is a dangerous form of rigidity that will draw you away from God and right into the devil’s palm.

On the other hand, externals have everything to do with your interior life. As with many things in Catholicism, it’s a both/and. Why do we kneel, sit, or stand at various points of the Mass? Why do we adorn our Church’s with beautiful art, statues, and flowers? It’s because we are orienting our visible exterior to align more fully with even more real, though invisible, internal, spiritual Truths.

One way of dressing is objectively more modest than another. One way is objectively more counter cultural and more likely to elicit fruitful conversations on virtue. One way is objectively more feminine - which is core part of our identity and truest self. Stating these objective facts is not a condemnation or accusation.

Does that mean you aren’t holy if you were jeans? Or that you’re holier if you only wear dresses? Of course not, and I’ve never seen anyone on IG state otherwise.
