"Joint statement by the leaders of France, Germany, Poland, the United Kingdom and Ukraine following the meeting in Kyiv

On Saturday, May 10, 2025, the leaders of France, Germany, Poland, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine met in Kyiv.

They agreed that there should be a complete and unconditional ceasefire for at least 30 days, starting Monday, May 12.

They agreed that an unconditional ceasefire, by definition, cannot be limited by any conditions. If Russia were to put forward such conditions, it could only be seen as an attempt to prolong the war and undermine diplomacy.

They demand that the ceasefire be comprehensive: in the air, at sea, and on land.

They emphasized that this requires effective monitoring, which can be successfully implemented in close coordination with the United States.

They agreed that the ceasefire should last for at least 30 days to create space for diplomacy. During this period, diplomatic work should focus on outlining the security, political and humanitarian foundations of peace.

They welcomed the fact that the call for a ceasefire and meaningful negotiations is supported by both Europe and the United States.

They stressed the utmost importance of strengthening the Defense and Security Forces of Ukraine as the main guarantee of Ukraine's sovereignty and security. The guarantee forces (contingent) should also become a key element of Ukraine's security guarantees.

They agreed that if Russia refuses a full and unconditional ceasefire, tougher sanctions should be applied to its banking and energy sectors, targeting fossil fuels, oil, and the shadow navy.

They agreed to adopt a powerful 17th package of EU sanctions and coordinate it with sanctions imposed by the United Kingdom and Norway, as well as the United States.

They agreed to continue working on the effective use of frozen Russian assets and to discuss this issue at the next G7 summit.

They expressed their readiness to further strengthen Ukraine's defense, especially the Ukrainian army. This should include financing defense resilience and investments in weapons production both in Ukraine and in European countries within the framework of joint projects."

🇱🇹❌🇧🇾 — Lithuania is strengthening its border security with Belarus by deploying additional military units

➡️ This decision comes in response to the rising number of illegal migrants attempting to cross into Lithuania from Belarus.

➡️ Rustamas Liubajevas, head of Lithuania’s State Border Guard Service (VSAT), announced that an agreement has been reached with the country’s Armed Forces to station extra troops in the Varėna area starting Thursday.

“I cannot disclose the exact number of soldiers, as this information is classified, but the army will support us in securing several sections of the border,” Liubajevas said on TV3 News.

🇮🇷🇴🇲🛬 — Iranian Regime's negotiating team has arrived in Muscat, Sultanate lf Oman, ahead of indirect talks with the United States set to begin around noon on Sunday, IRGC-affiliated Tasnim News reported, citing an informed source.

The report said the exact location of the meeting will be determined by Oman’s foreign minister.
