🇻🇪🇬🇾 The ICJ rules in favor of Guyana and orders Venezuela to avoid taking actions that change the current situation in Essequibo:
"Until a final decision on the controversy is adopted, Venezuela will refrain from taking any measure that modifies the situation of the territory under the administration of Guyana."
Thus, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) recognizes that Guyana administers and controls the Essequibo territory.
The ICJ further noted that there is a real and imminent risk of irreparable harm to Guyana, and therefore took two provisional measures:
1) Venezuela must refrain from carrying out actions that modify the current situation of the disputed territory.
2) Both parties must avoid actions that aggravate or extend the dispute.

☢️ 🌍 IEA: "Nuclear capacity needs to double to reach net zero by 2050
COP28: Hold my beer...
Richard Ollington:
"Can it be done?
It's a big ask - 50% faster buildout than the 80s, and for a longer period
But
This time it'll be a global effort. In the 80s only 30 countries built nuclear. Now over 80 countries are considering nuclear builds.
China and India alone aim to add 180 GW by 2040.
Nuclear is already well proven as the fastest means of building out clean electricity generation"

📈 🇺🇸 💵 Annualized interest expense on US Federal debt is nearing $1.1 TRILLION.
To put this in perspective, 2023 defense spending was $821 billion.
This means the US is on track to spend 34% MORE on interest expense than defense spending.
In 2023, the US government produced $4.4 trillion in revenue.
This means that 25% of receipts in the entire 2023 are equivalent to our annual interest expense.
If it looks like interest expense is moving in a straight line higher, that’s because it is.
Rising rates and falling tax revenue are both occurring at the same time.
What’s the game plan here?

US Strategic Oil Reserve Refill Is Limited Despite Low Prices
The Biden administration may not be able to take full advantage of the recent drop in oil prices as it seeks to refill its depleted crude oil reserve, the Energy Department’s No. 2 official said Monday.
