Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov demanded that NATO must withdraw its troops from the Baltic region. Russia has long seen the Baltics as very near, and its sphere of influence, also given its territory of of Kaliningrad. 

"The American side requires practical steps aimed at eliminating the root causes of the fundamental contradictions between us in the area of security," he had said, originally in state TASS.

"Among these causes, NATO expansion is in the foreground," he emphasized. "Without resolving this fundamental and most acute problem for us, it is simply impossible to resolve the current conflict in the Euro-Atlantic region."

"MOSCOW, June 9 — RIA Novosti. The Russian Armed Forces have destroyed most of the American Abrams tanks transferred to Ukraine, according to RIA Novosti calculations.

In January 2023, then-US President Joe Biden announced the delivery of 31 M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine.

According to RIA Novosti, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 26 Abrams tanks since February 2024. The first such tank was destroyed by fighters from the Center group on February 26, 2024, in the Avdeevka direction.

Thus, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have five American combat vehicles left out of 31.

Moscow has repeatedly warned Western countries that arms supplies to Ukraine do not change anything and only prolong the conflict. As Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized, NATO is directly involved in this confrontation not only by sending military equipment and supplies, but also by training personnel."
