It was an honor to meet Ahmad Massoud, son of Commander Massoud, an iconic hero of the Afghan resistance against the Soviet occupation and then against the Islamist fanaticism of the Taliban and Al-Qaeda.

His father, the "Lion of Panjshir," gave his life for a free and sovereign Afghanistan. Today, Ahmad continues this fight with admirable determination.

We discussed the tragic situation in Afghanistan, where the Taliban impose a regime of terror, silence women, prohibit education, and erase all freedoms.

Keeping the memory of Commander Massoud alive means supporting those who resist and reject barbarism today.

Two decades ago, at a session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, I proposed a third solution to the Iran issue, stating that the international community is not compelled to choose between a nuclear-armed mullahs’ regime or war.

The people of Iran will accept nothing less than the overthrow of the religious dictatorship and the establishment of a free and democratic republic that rejects both dictatorships of the Shah and the mullahs-one that is non-nuclear, based on the separation of religion and state, and in line with the Ten-Point Plan of the Iranian Resistance.

As I stated last week at a conference at the U.S. Senate, this regime will never abandon its repression, its export of war and terrorism, or its nuclear program.

The past 46 years have proven that this regime is bound by no promises or commitments.

After the Resistance exposed its secret nuclear sites in 2002, Khamenei begrudgingly agreed to seal and stamp the uranium enrichment facilities.

However, just one year later, he broke all seals and expanded the regime’s nuclear activities

If the Zionists target our oil facilities, the countries of the region must make correct calculations

➡️The Iranian nation will stand firm in the face of the war imposed on it, just as it will stand firm in the face of the peace imposed on it. This nation will not surrender to anyone under any imposition.

➡️Smart people who know Iran, its people, and its history will never speak to this nation in the language of threats, because the Iranian nation will not surrender. Americans must know that any American military intervention will undoubtedly cause irreparable damage.

➡️Iran will not accept any war or peace imposed on it, anyone who knows Iran's history knows that it does not respond to threats.

➡️We warn the United States against directly assisting Israel militarily, or even considering doing so.

➡️Moscow is capable of providing mediation efforts in the context of the conflict between Israel and Iran.
