➡️ Sanctions imposed under the Bush and Obama administrations — targeting the Assad regime’s human rights abuses and financial networks — will be lifted effective July 1, 2025.

➡️ The order allows suspension of sanctions imposed under the Caesar Act and the Chemical and Biological Weapons Control Act, declaring that Assad-era abuses no longer reflect the position of the current Syrian government.

➡️ While lifting broad economic sanctions, the order expands Executive Order 13894 to focus future sanctions on individuals tied to war crimes, captagon trafficking, and disappearances during Assad’s rule.
