According to local media, the eruption was located near the Svartsengi geothermal power plant near the town of Grindavík, which was evacuated last month over an increase in seismic activity
The fissure is estimated to be around 3 km long!
Parts of the fissure just opened as it was broadcast live on local TVs
Videos shared on social medias by netizens and observers showing the incident closely.

On Friday, the S&P 500 ETF, $SPY, saw its biggest single-day inflow on record, at $20.8 billion.
Dating back to the ETF's inception in 1993, this has never been seen.
Total inflows last week alone hit $24 billion, also posting a new record.
Yesterday, $SPY saw ANOTHER $10 billion of inflows, putting the total at nearly $35 billion since last Monday.
That's $35 billion in 6 trading days, or $5.8 billion PER DAY.
Year-to-date total inflows for $SPY are at $50 billion.
This means that ~70% of YTD inflows for $SPY have happened over the last 6 trading days.
The market is really betting on Powell sticking to a "Fed pivot."

Between the night of the 16th and the early morning of the 17th of December 2023, I went on a trip to a ballooning event in the city of Durazno, in Uruguay and the modeling presented a favorable scenario for the development of a large line of instability at night nearby. from the region of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

"An American nuclear submarine arrived in South Korea for the third time this year. Shortly after the warship arrived in South Korea, North Korea fired a short-range ballistic missile.
On Sunday, Yonhap News reported the Virginia-class submarine USS Missouri arrived at a South Korean port. In July, the Pentagon had an Ohio-class attack submarine – a warship equipped with nuclear weapons – make a port call in South Korea. Last month, a Los Angeles-class nuclear submarine made a stop at the Korean Peninsula.
Shortly before the Missouri arrived in South Korea, the Biden administration issued a statement reaffirming it would use nuclear weapons to defend Seoul. “The US reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to provide extended deterrence to [South Korea], backed by the full range of US capabilities including nuclear,” the White House stated on Saturday."
