Miruță met a few weeks ago with representatives of several concrete manufacturers in Romania who complained of being bought out of the market by Turkish and Ukrainian competitors who are able to produce cement at much lower prices than Romanian manufacturers.

Now, Miruță is asking the EU to limit trade with Ukraine and Turkey in the concrete sector.

New EU regulations on protecting the environment, like carbon taxes, have made the production of concrete on the territory of the EU extremely expensive and construction companies across Romania find it easier and cheaper to buy concrete from non-EU countries who do not have carbon taxes to pay.
